Niello Mini in Sacramento doesn't even give you a loaner. They have a shuttle. I'd prefer a crappy loaner to a shuttle.

Apparently they were out of BMWs. This is what happens when you have a single dealership for a very large area. They basically can do whatever they want and you have no recourse. Its the same with the Subaru dealer in the area (my other car is a Subaru).

Sorry to hear about your expierience with MVM, from reading it seems it 50/50 of getting good service. I mentioned to Jim Burke the service manager at EBM about your car being delivered with the CEL and then having to wait so long to get it in at MVM and he stated that was not acceptable.
To soon to tell as this was my first dealings with him and the service department, but if the service yesterday was how things at EBM are handled I will be very pleased. Between the Ipod and the broken trunk cable release I was there for 3 hours. During that time Jim found me 5 differant times to keep me updated on the progress, I was allowed in the shop to see what the issue was with the cable, and I had full view of my Mini being worked all the time. None of this taking your Mini into the service area where the customer cannot go or see the techs working on the car.
Before it was taken into the service area, a MT did a walk around the vehicle to see any scratches, body damage etc. That way if a customer reports damage done by the techs in the shop, there is a record.
I had this happen at a Nissan dealer on the 350Z, they did damge of $600 but I could not prove it, was my word against theirs, so the walk around at Mini to me is a good practice.
Also customers are suppose to recieve a phone call and inquire about the service expierience, and the rating determines the manager qualifying for raies, bonuses and such, so it seems they want a high rating from the customers.
Hope you get your Mini back soon and have no more issues other than normal maintainence.
Waiting so long seemed odd to me... but what can I do about it (aside from driving all the way to EB Mini)? They basically have everyone here in an unfair position since we don't have another dealer across the street.

Thanks for the tip about the checking for damage. I never even though to look.. but now I will.

Ya a shuttle is not fun at all, had that offered here in town with Nissan and never used it, would just drop the Z off and pick up when they were done.

I noticed that East Bay Mini has at least one red/white MCS for a loaner, has a stupid decal in rear window showing it is a courtesy loaner. But I will be wating well Skeeter is being serviced so unless he has major problems I won't be using a loaner. I prefer to watch the techs work on him to make sure they do him no harm.

I hate dealerships that don't call to update you on progress. It was dropped off at 10:30am. My husband just called just now (6PM) and are told it has a stuck valve in the leak detection pump (or someting.. will get more details when I can talk to him in person). Why did they not call us to update us on the progress? That is just poor customer service. I would expect a call by 5pm. Grr

Quick question, folks...any of you filled your tank yet? I did my first fill-up today. Used premium. Then pulled out onto the street...was waiting at the stop light, when I noticed a very subtle knocking...kind of a rough idle.

Anyone else have this experience? It calmed down and at the next stop light, I didn't feel it. Just wondering...

Don't get me wrong, was not critisizing you, as you say you had no choice. It just really sucks you have a dealer that becasue of location can take advantage of customers. I have never been able to deal with the auto dealers here in Tracy, always by out of the area and drive the distance to find a good service department. I understand that is not an option for all owners and I hate driving the extra mileage, but no other options.

I filled up on Sunday and didn't notice what you described, but I have the convertible so I think its a different engine.

What brand of gas did you use?

Filled up Monday evening odom showed 37 mile till empty, used premium and it took 13.320 gals, so have to agree the tank hold a bit more than specs say. But no I did not notice any strange noise, so hope it was just a freak thing for you. Mileage on first tank was 28mpg, mostly city driving.

License Plate

The first choice for Skeeter's license plate after waiting to order it for two months, it was now taken when I tried last week, it was going to be "MINZILA"

So after another week of thinking and trying for an available plate the vote tonight was for "SGOKART" so just ordered it online, now the long wait to get it.

Mine will be XTRA SM (a plate my husband says only a female could reasonably choose ). I ordered it while Wilhelmina was in the middle of the Atlantic, so I hope to get notice of its arrival soon.

Wow.. I am annoyed.

Apparently some sensor valve is faulty which is why our CEL is on. They tested the theory with a part from another car, but the part is backordered for 2-4 weeks! They are giving us the car back but wont fix it until they get the part in. The car is fine to drive, its just the sensor thats faulty.

I'm not very happy about this.

Ok.. now its just getting comical.

So I got the iPod adapter installed. It doesn't work with my iPhone. Since I work at Apple, they could check it out and see if its something specific to the iPhone. Turns out, it wont work with the Nano either. Apparently the early adapters (for the 2007 models) had a problem and I must have gotten one of those.

So now back to talking to service.

Ugh. This is the kind of stuff that just shouldn't happen. Lucky you work at Apple and at least one question is answered (though clearly, not by your dealer).

No EB Mini. I posted in your other thread about it that it didnt work with the iPhone, but found out later its not limited to the iPhone. It only works with older generation iPods.

So is the solution to have EB update the software or for you to buy a new Ipod ?

Hehe.. well not sure who is going to fix it at this point. MVM never answers the phone so when they return our call, will talk to them first and then go from there.

Oh btw.. my CEL went off today! So at least its not staring me in the face anymore.

Well if you receive a call for rating your expierience with MVM service, don't give them a 5.

Good to hear about the CEL going out, that would be agravating to drive with it on.
