I am a proud owner of a 2007 Cooper S Convertible...having the top down is amazing! I purchased it a few days ago and would like to know more about the CAI.
I'd like to know more about cleaning and oiling the filter but seem to keep finding threads that talk about why you should get a different kind of filter.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for being kind to a newbie...I'll learn to search better...I promise!
There are several videos posted on YouTube about this topic. Here's one that is simple & uses a common household product rather than the manufacturer's overpriced cleanser.
Warning..many folks clean them WAY TOO OFTEN...
Then overoil them..coating your engine sensors....
Think k&n was suggesing around 50,000-80,000 mile interval for most cars....
Yes you need to wait to clean it. We often see customers that want to clean it every 5k miles and that just breaks down the filter material. Let the filter get dirty and clean it every 25-30k miles.
