6:30 pm pick-up time tonight!!!!

I'm leaving in about 15 minutes to go get Wilhelmina. They tried to schedule me for tomorrow and I used your East Bay experience to get them to hurry it up and give me the car tonight.

I'll post pictures later

It's actually happening!!

Check back in once in a while and let us know how things are, I'll post some pics tomorrow once Skeeter is back home. Anxious to see how the tint looks.

Will do. None of us will likely be quite as NAM-addicted now that the wait is over. But I'll certainly still be around...

Congrats wondermini!! Your MINI is beautiful!

Well, I have 300 miles on my new MINI now. I'm driving a lot recently due to family being in town. I guess I am supposed to do the brake test.. which he said I am supposed to go like 40 and slam on my breaks. Does that sound right? Also, when is the break in period over? My memory is getting fuzzy.

Keeping under 4,500 rpms for 1,400 miles is what most are going with. Who told you about the "brake test" never heard of that one.
What is the status of the CEL, still on ?

Skeeter is in the garage on stands with his wheels off. Spraying the fabic with Scotch Guard Water Repellant, hopefully it well help in the rainy season to make it easy to keep that area clean. Also detailing the rims well the tires are off, only have 150 miles on Skeeter but the rims were really soiled. Since the bra and window tiniting needed 3 days to cure had to find some way of killing time.

CEL is still on. We have an appointment at the Mountain View dealer for the 22nd (first one we could get). It drives fine though.. and they didnt say not to drive it, so...... Its annoying but the car is wonderful so I am not complaining that much. It was my MA (Blair) that told me about the brake test or whatever he called it. I remember to keep it under 4500 rpms.. but didnt remember for how long. Thanks for reminding me

Can't wait to see pics of Skeeter with his new look. I still havent decided if the car is a boy or girl and what to name it. My other car, Subaru Impreza 2.5RS is a boy.. nicknamed "Roo". I'm thinking the MINI is a boy too though... hard to say

Ok, so I'm having trouble keeping it until 4500rpms. That's such placid driving--not my style.

After two days, I love this car even more than I did before.

Your attention to Skeeter is making me wonder if I shouldn't do some of that kind of stuff with Wilhelmina. Just curious...how much did you pay for the bra? The dealer prices are ridiculous.

I had read on another thread that sometimes they forget to put the fasteners on the bottom of the floor mats and it slides around when you drive. I am having this experience. I'll have to take it in this weekend to get the fasteners...

Oh, one more issue...when I try to program it to give me both the light and horn signal when locking with the key, it just won't. I can only program it to give me the lights or nothing. The option for the horn doesn't appear. Anyone else having trouble with this? I think I'll search the forum for other comments on it.

Ya staying under 4,500 is not eay.

The bra prices around the bay aea seem to run from 6 - 8 hundred, the place I decided to go with is one I found on NorCal Mini's, several people had work done thre and were very pleased.
The bra package included the partial hood (about 1" past the hood vent) entire front bumber area, headlights, fog lights, mirrors (but passed on it becasue it would have not looked great on the chrome mirrors) door edges, door handle cup area, gas cap area, and top of rear bumber. Cost was $850. This is like the 4 or 5th one I have done and this guy is by far the best I have seen, where possible edges were tucked and rolled under and it is very hard to find the bra area.
I did remember to ask for the floor carpet anchors, but waiting to see if they are neeed as they screw into the carpet/floor.
Have not done all of the set up on Skeeter yet, so not sure about lights/horn, will work on that stuff tomorrow afternoon after another demo ride on the Spyder in the am.

Have about a dozen or so pics from today but tired out from working on Skeeter all day, will get them up tomorrow evening hopefully.

Bra sounds like a good idea, but that's a lot of moolah. I'll think on it.

You'll definitely notice the mats slipping without the anchors...it's annoying.

Enjoy the Spyder...is that thing street legal?

Ya the prices of the bras seems to me a concern for a lot of people, but travling the Altamont it's a no brainer, cost of the bra is about a third of repaining in two years or less.

Ya the Spyders are acutally going to be licensed as Roadster, and requires no motorcycle endorsement in CA since it is three wheeled. Getting anxious been waiting since late February.

If you have not solved the issue, the option for both lights and horn requires the alarm system.

Yeah, I had given up. I didn't get the alarm system. No big deal.

Drove Wilhelmina up to Apple Hill today to buy some fresh-picked peaches. It was great fun. Even in sixth gear, climbing a mountain hill, I can easily get her up and pass people.

I've abandoned the break-in period. I asked my MA when I was at the dealer on Saturday (getting the hooks for my floor mats), and he said there is no break-in for the manual transmission. You're pretty much varying speed & rpms all the time, so it's moot. He did say not to drive 5 hours down I-5 in cruise-control at one speed, but that was it. There are so many different beliefs about the break-in, I'm inclined to think it's all a bunch of crap.

Turned 200 miles today. Still love her.

The break in period is more for the engine, so you may want to keep it under the 5k rpm for a bit more than a few hundred miles.

But I agree there are some owners that get way to concerned about a break in period, unless you drive a new Mini with no common sense at all you are not going to damage that engine.
I did manage to post some pictures last night in a new thread. called "A New Mini In The Valley".

Well, I'm over 400 miles now. Still keeping it under 4500 rpms. My MINI is at the Mountain View dealer today getting its CEL taken care of. We got a craptastic loaner car (not a MINI) and apparently they arent organized at all there (wrote down appointment for different days in different spots). I'm not looking forward to dealing with Mountain View MINI.. they just don't see to have it together and no one ever answers the phone at the service desk. Grr. I wish I lived closer to EB MINI as they seem better.

I hope we get the MINI back tonight but I'm guessing we won't given their lack of organization. I hope they prove me wrong.

Must be hard to be without your Mini again.

I hope I never have to find out if my dealer is good with this stuff or not.

Man that sucks! Our MINI dealership loans out BMW 3 series for their loaner cars. Heck, they even gave us a convertible Z4, an X5, and a 335 over the years. They have MINI convertible loaners too, but we've never been able to get one of those yet. I wonder why some dealerships loan out rent-a-wrecks instead???

Just a bit over 400 miles on Skeeter so far, may make a trip over to the boardwalk at Santa Cruz this weekend.

Sorry to hear about your expierience with MVM, from reading it seems it 50/50 of getting good service. I mentioned to Jim Burke the service manager at EBM about your car being delivered with the CEL and then having to wait so long to get it in at MVM and he stated that was not acceptable.
To soon to tell as this was my first dealings with him and the service department, but if the service yesterday was how things at EBM are handled I will be very pleased. Between the Ipod and the broken trunk cable release I was there for 3 hours. During that time Jim found me 5 differant times to keep me updated on the progress, I was allowed in the shop to see what the issue was with the cable, and I had full view of my Mini being worked all the time. None of this taking your Mini into the service area where the customer cannot go or see the techs working on the car.
Before it was taken into the service area, a MT did a walk around the vehicle to see any scratches, body damage etc. That way if a customer reports damage done by the techs in the shop, there is a record.
I had this happen at a Nissan dealer on the 350Z, they did damge of $600 but I could not prove it, was my word against theirs, so the walk around at Mini to me is a good practice.
Also customers are suppose to recieve a phone call and inquire about the service expierience, and the rating determines the manager qualifying for raies, bonuses and such, so it seems they want a high rating from the customers.
Hope you get your Mini back soon and have no more issues other than normal maintainence.
