IRMIGER: Don't you just love the Dark Silver. It looks fantastic. Will send pictures tonight I wanted to finish my roof rack first. Give everyone a shot of the mini roof for 2007 with a bike mount on top - I only have one because the second one did not come in yet?

Side note: I was getting on the on ramp of the freeway yesterday and some guy tried to pass me and cut me off. My first reaction was to hit the brakes and let him go by, and then I decided to give it a little gas (under 4500 rpm) and the turbo kicked in, I got pushed into the seat hard. The guy did not stand a chance. The pull was incredible, and I grew up with muscle cars.

I need your help / advise. My MA is off today but I stop by to see my Mini arrive or not anyway. Surprise. She is there at the back parking lot. It looks fine except the front bumper were drill with 2 holes for license plate. That is bad because I told MA not to drill any holes on the front bumper, if she did she is buying my new bumper. Several emails were sent to make sure of that. Well....someone is not listening this simple request.

Some options to solve this mistake:

A) $$$ discount (please advise how much should I ask to settle this, reasonable amount.)

B) Free Ipod installation (labor only)

C) Free driving lamp installation (labor only).

New bumper and paint job cost at least $600. Do you guys think I ask too much?

HELP!

MA might not know this drilled front bumper yet. At this stage, just preparing what to say tomorrow or Friday.

Aww now that sucks. Sorry to hear that Jacky. Hmmm I say talk it over. Print and bring those emails with you just in case. Like you said your MA might not know about the drilled bumper. Just stay cool at all times. I like your options, try to get them to toss one of those in.

Just curious, where were you planning on mounting the front plate?

Doe....Not going to mount the front plate. It kind of ugly looking. No front plate for over ten years without trouble so far. (fingers crossing). BTW...a lot of nice cars don't have it on in California.

Since it is a legal requirement in CA for a front license plate, they may not have a choice but to install a plate holder and plate.

I wasn't able to get a factory/dealer installed rear fog light because where they are mounted on a Mini is illegal in Oregon. Each states has its own regulations that the dealerships must follow. They may have to install it (front plate holder) so any violations cannot be blamed on them.

SimpsonGI..... I heard you. The sticker price is $32,850.00 plus tax and license. Try to knock down few dollars or get some free stuff.

BTW....did you get yours yet? what is the status?

No, I haven't taken delivery yet. The truck is late. Mine and several others were due at the dealership yesterday. They have several phone calls in to the VDC to find out what the story is. According to their information it has left the VDC so they are contributing the delay to the trucking company.

I should find out this morning if it arrived overnight. If it did, I should still able to take delivery tomorrow. If it didn't my next opportunity to make the 4 hour round trip to pick it up is next Wednesday (constrained by my wife's work schedule).

My MA is off today but he has asked to be notified of its status. He'll call me from home to let me know what is going on. Hopefully....I'll be able to post good news later today.

In the last 9 years of living in CA I have purchased seven new vehicles. Having talked to dealers about the front plate issue, seems it is another one of the CA laws that are not strictly enforced. If there is no factory holes for the front plate, as in not drilled out, don't put a plate on. I have not yet been stopped for no front plates on either of my current vehilces.

Your Mini should be on a Waggoners transport and they have satellite tracking, so the company should be able to know exactly where it is at.
Good luck and hope it arrives soon.

My dealer provided me with a waiver that stated that I was choosing not to have them install the front mounting kit and that I was given one to put on by myself. It released them from responsibility in case I tried suing them, but still allowed me the option of not drilling holes myself.

BTW: If you told them not to drill, it then becomes your choice HOW to mount the plate. They come undrilled from the VDC, which means you could always tell them you were planing on using the no-holes mount that screws into the tow hook hole on the front bumper. It should make them feel bad enough to do something for you.

Hey, I may need to go to lunch and hang out by I-5, I'm about 2 hours South of Portland so the truck is probably very near where I'm at . Or I could take the rest of the day off and provide it an escort up there. Ugg...then I'd have to leave it behind. I guess I'll just wait as patiently as I can manage.

Congrats Gary and Emily!!!

As far as the license plate situation, mine doesn't have it installed, but the kit is sitting in the boot...about 5 years ago I did get a $50 ticket as my Beetle didn't have one...that was a good time...but I've yet to decide about the Mini...there are 2 little marks on the front bumper that look like they are to show you where to drill...like two little dimples...

Also, he experienced his first rain shower yesterday...did you know that if you go in reverse with the front wipers on the rear one turns on automatically? Lame trivia (well for me anyway...I was lucky to figure out how to keep the wipers on...)

I still can't wait to see all of your pictures...we are going to shoot for a family photo on Saturday. I bought us all Mini shirts (my 3 year old has the one that says "I have one and you don't"...he loved it...)

I hope we all keep in touch after all the Minis are delivered...

Isolde 07/02/2007 is and will be special group of gangs.

Thanks for sharing the rear wiper feature. cool.

I know LAX give out ticket very aggressively for cars does not have front plate. The price is $60. But I still take my chances.

Stay tune for pics.

I've been working on my old vehicle tonight getting it ready to sell to one of my wife's friends. Some work with a PC and the right compounds can make a world of difference in the paint finish.

Now I just need to go buff of the sealant.

Good for you. I am still waiting the buyer to buy the Dodge.

PC works way better than human hands. Rotary buffer is the best for removing swirl marks. Sometimes your clear and paint too.

Take a good sleep tonight and get ready for your big day.
