Yah... i don't see port heuneme on there... that would be a bummer if us west coasters only have one port and one carrier company to rely on...

I think Hueneme is the only VDC for the West Coast... I like WW... they give you tracking of your VIN from port to port, you can keep tabs on the process. Right down to the timestamp for when your mini arrives at the terminal in Southampton, to when it is loaded (hour/min) onto the vessel, the ports of call dates for the vessel, and the time your mini is offloaded.... Very cool!

None of the other lines allow that tracking detail. I for one hope my Mini is on WW!

While the tracking is cool, I'm still going to hope for K-Line since it arrives at US Port a day sooner than the WW boat.

In Canada, we dont have OL like you guys (I tried at mini.com, but my prod # wasn't recognized).

I'm just wondering if you know which ships will be leaving between, lets say the 16th and the 20th? In other words, I'm expecting the car will be shipped to an East Coast port - but I dont know which one.

Based on that, could you guys put a guess on which boat I might end up on?

Thanks.
Pav,
You should check with some past guys that already received in the East Coast of Canada, and find out what terminal they came into. My guess is either Halifax or NY/Newark. If it's Halifax, the next W&W ship leaves Southampton on the 19th, arriving Hali on the 26th.

If's it 's NY, it's any of the other ones listed above...

So the latest on my car is "Vehicle production complete and is waiting to be released to the carrier." Does anyone know at this point in the process how long it takes to get the car to the dock ?

It varies. The average range seems to be 2-5 days.

They could nearly build you another MINI in that time, eh?

My MINI routine (yeah, I have no life) is to call Automated Ask MINI (AAM) with a follow-up call to Live Ask MINI (LAM). AAM 'said' that my car is complete and scheduled for release to the carrier. LAM told me the car was completed yesterday (6/12) and is going through quality control testing today and then awaits release to the carrier. Last I looked, the OL still has my car in production.

I would love to make the boat on the 16th; we'll see.

I'm in the same boat (and hope my MINI is on a ship soon). My vehicle has been in "production complete. Waiting to be released to a carrier" according to AskMINI for a couple days now. It was scheduled for completion on the 6/11. The OL still shows "scheduled for production".

According to this web site it takes 1-3 days to travel by rail from Oxford to SouthHampton. I think the longer delay may be in getting updated information.

The Southampton terminal is only 60 miles from the plant in Oxford. That's about a 1 to 2 hour train ride for our mini's. The delay is it sitting in the yard at Oxford, or sitting in the yard in Southampton waiting for processing I'm sure....

The askMINI person just told me my vehicle is waiting at the dock in Southhampton to be loaded on the ship. They can't give any more info beyond this point. They advise to contact the shipper. I'll keep trying my VIN on WW Cargo tracking site, but so far it hasn't pulled up anything.

Birdman, what completion date does the AskMINI line give for your vehicle? Usually a VIN is assigned in the body shop before going to Paint. Does the line tell you where in production your vehicle is now?

I'm stuck without any ability to get updates. So it's pretty much a guessing game for me. I get to live vicariously through you guys, i guess!

Does anyone know if the factory is in production 24/7, or just monday to friday? I'm hoping the former, which means I might be on a boat by monday...

WW Site

So if I go to the WW site / track cargo / Auto / enter VIN in the blank field, that will tell me if I've got a ticket to ride? When might one expect to see their car listed on that site?

I'm trying to remember when my VIN showed up on WW for my first order... I think it was about 5 or 7 days after it went into production...(which would put it at 1-2 days after the production was complete) My VIN then showed up on WW as "Received at Terminal". The WW site showed the ship name and ports of call, when it was due in Southampton, etc...

I'm expecting my production to be complete by 6/18, and maybe show up on WW between 6/18 and 6/20. That is if they ship it WW. (which I suspect is the major carrier to the Western US)

Howdy,
Where do you get "paint shop"? My sales rep told me I was in "paint shop" last Friday. Ask mini just today, changed there status from sceduled to "paint shop".

So if you are getting that from ask mini, you might be further along than that.

Congrats to those who are making progress on the assembly line. I believe that after your car comes out of the paint shop it then gets fully assembled, tested and transported to the docks.

Ask Mini says my car is port side but I don't get any results when I enter my VIN into the Auto tracking field.

Hi guys,

Sorry if I come off as a bit of a novice here...first time I've actually ordered a car. I'm guessing I am week 24. I ordered the car June 8th, and today I looked on the owners lounge and it said scheduled for production. When I called ASK MINI both the auto thing and the person said completion on June 18th, and the person said today I should be going into paint. So, I'm week 24?

Now, how the heck are you guys figuring out all this stuff about boats?? Is there a schedule I can look at? I saw one PDF linked above, but it doesn't stop in Newark, which is where I think mine will be offloaded (dealership is in NYC area). I'm hoping to have the car by maybe the 2nd week of July and wanted to find out if this is actually possible.

Thanks for your help.

Mike
