R56 R56 Week 24 Production
Brad,
Looks like our cars might be neighbors on the same boat! I'll be picking mine up in Arlington, and it too is scheduled for a June 11 completion date. This puts me somewhere in between week 23 and 24 so I'm just keeping an eye on both threads!
I ordered mine on 5/26, so not too much longer wait for me. The OL says scheduled for production for me, but then it's had a few extra days to catch up. From what I've read, the automated ASK MINI info is fairly reliable once you get an estimated completion date out of it.

I did check the owner's lounge again and they've updated the status of my car to "scheduled for production." The OL seems slightly delayed, but reliable.
Any idea what port MINI ships Texas-bound vehicles through? Most of the posts on here mention East and West coast ports, but there are also ports on the Gulf coast. Wonder if they ship through Louisiana or Galveston/Houston ship canal?
Finally!
I 'spoke' with the automated Ask Mini, and 'he' told me that my little eye candy toy is scheduled for June 12 completion. It feels good to have the process in progress

Cool, looks like our cars will be traveling together. I haven't called the AskMini line since this afternoon; trying not to call more than once a day. I'm not in a big hurry to get the car. I've been waiting to order since last year, so couple more months isn't going to bother me. But it is fun to follow the progress.

Why the heck does it take 9 days from Southhapton to NY?? It's not THAT far. My boat could do that trip in 1 day, of course if a re-fuel tanker followed me along to refuel every 400 miles or so.

Birdman, thanks for the congrats. Okay, seriously though, I want to hitch a ride on your boat! I'll make it easy, just pick me up in Ocean City, MD. I'll even row out a few hundred yards
.
Second, I believe they drive the MINI's onto the ship, but I'm not 100% certain.

The automated response still has no date set, and the live dood said mine's is still "estimated" for week 24. I hope that I can join you on the production line though!!
I herd some guys on the west coast watch a web cam of the ship going thru the Panama canal. Well, I'm going to go out and watch the ship go by LIVE!!!
What is with the mini??? I have never gave a rats a_ss about any of the cars or trucks I have ever bought. Maybe 5 minutes of, wow, smells nice, but that's it. Now with a mini on order, I can't even think straight!!
Is anyone as nuts as I am waiting for this thing??
Yup, its pretty much all I think about. For all the people that had ordered their MINI's weeks ago, I dont' know how I would cope. Its been 5 days since I've ordered mine, and I keep going back to the MINI website and building my MINI over and over again.
After that, I read about 5 road tests... all of which, incidentally, say that the MINI is such a joy to drive.
I hope this wait gets easier with time - cause we all have quite some time to wait!
But learn from my mistake. Don't tell your girlfriend (or boyfriend) that "you've never been so excited about anything"... surprisingly, a comment like that doesnt go over as well as it would in this forum (regardless of how excited the other person is for you!)...
Did I mention how excited I am?

I doubt it gets any easier with time. It seems it's getting worse for me. I click on the online status site every few hours. I know for sure it won't change, but for some reason I can't help checking anyway!!!
Doesn't seem to be allot of Week 24 folks, where is everyone?
Anyone's status change yet? Anyone in product? The week 24 production has already started, cause week 24 means the car will be completed in week 24. So some may be 1/2 way thru.
Where's my mini????

My completion date remains 6/11 and the OL now shows my VIN. Not sure at what stage of the production line they assign the VIN to a vehicle, but it represents progress.
If a dealer promised someone a wk24 production, but the vehicle still doesn't have a completion date or a "scheduled for production" status, then I'm thinking the dealer was more interested in making a sale than giving the customer a realistic picture of when your car will be built.

Not sure who you were referring to Brad, but you can be completed in week 24 (making it a Prod wk 24) by starting production all the way up to Wed night, June 13th). 5 days in plant finsihes you on Sunday night, week 24.
So there are still 5 days of scheduling and going into production for week 24 cars.
Yours was made in week 23, and will finish on the 1st day of wk 24.
Mines scheduled, no completion date yet. The rep on ask mini hinted it was starting on Monday.

I was also thinking about all those west coast MINI customers who wait weeks or months for their cars to enter production. I suspect the dealers out there aren't totally honest about which production slots they have available. If they're able to see vehicles off the lot at above MSRP, there might be a motivation to use their production slots for dealer orders before filling customer orders. Maybe I'm just cynical.
I was thinking wk 24 ends Sat 6/17 and it takes about 7 days to build the car. So that doesn't leave much time for a vehicle to be "scheduled for production" and still make it out by wk 24.
So, I don't have a production week yet but I'm hoping for 24. Cross your fingers for me.
On the topic of being excited and waiting....
When I bought by 2003 MCS, there was a 6-8 MONTH wait. Now that I'm getting and '07, 6-8 weeks seems like a dream. Still, I'm anxious as anything to get into my new car.

Well, I just got "new" info from ask MINI - my car is in the body shop. still scheduled for June 11 completion. At this point I don't think it matters, since I'll likely be on the 6/16 Freedom.
Moving right along!! :D
Moving right along!! :D
Thanks Howdyem. Have you heard anything new about your baby today? It shouldn't be much longer now for you. I'm hoping our two cars still get to share that afternoon tea while crossing the Atlantic together.
HOLD EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just happen to call my sales rep to tak about financing options... and he then checked my status for me.
My MINI is in PAINT!!! HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!
Now I am really going nutz!! There is an actual mini body(almost a car), being painted Dark Matelic Silver right now!!
HOLY CRAP!!!!
Is it on the boat yet, WHERE IS IT???? I NEED HELP!!!!!

Calm down, take it easy, it'll be alright! You sound like you may need to imbibe in a fine alcoholic beverage. But first, do you have enough gas in the boat to do the live meet and greet. Is the garage properly cleaned out. Wait, why am I typing, I gotta' go call Ask Mini to see if there's a change in my status.. But remember stay cool, it's only a car. I'm outa here!!!
Okay, I'm back...no change, still scheduled for 6/12 completion. Birdman, in all the excitement I forgot to congratulate you on the good news!

Looks like us east coasters will be on the Freedom (knock knock knock).
So here are the links we will be needing:
So here are the links we will be needing:
Ship tracking link to the Southampton (UK) shipping area. Keeping an eye out for "Freedom" to make sure she is on schedule:

Once the car is done, put the vin#, and make sure she makes the boat:

My Owners Lounge status finally changed to "Sceduled for Production" this morning. Meanwhile, my car was in Paint on Friday morning, probably be done in the next day or two if not already.
Pretty retarded the site is so far behind reality, it's not a rocket science to update some data...
Whats the chance we can call the W&W shipping HQ's and have them bump up the date the Freedom leaves port? Next Sat is a long way away?? Wouldn't they want that ship leaving earlier in the week?

Yeah, I'd love to see that happen. Likelihood - 0. By the way, I love your optomism! I truly hope I'm on the boat that leaves the 16th.

Optomism, ok, how about instead my car finished by tomorrow night and it gets loaded on the Teledo, and leaves Southampton on Tues the 12th and arrives in NY on Thursday the 21st. I could have "MiniBird" before July!!
