Thanks MF. Taday feels like Christmas eve, when I was 8!

Yeah, your dealer should get yours really quick being so close to the VDC. My online status went from, "waiting to be transported", to "At Dealer". Skipped right over all the other stuff... You could call WW (contact info on website) and ask why your car wasn't updated...

I wound up calling their office...good suggestion. Apparently that ships data hadn't been updated properly so it should show up soon. They assured me it was offloaded, though. Yay!

Any word on if you're picking yours up today?

All, I need your help/advice!!! My baby was loaded onto a truck (from the vdc) last monday, 6/25. I am less than 2 hours from there yet my car still has not arrived at my dealer. It's now been over a week. My MA is confused too and said he'd try to find out what's going on with it yesterday. Is it possible for my mini to be located at another dealership? Any thoughts/suggestions? Am I being paranoid/impatient?

Yes, anything is possible. I bet they find it at another dealership, OR, your dealer has it but doesn't want to tell you cause they are too busy to prep it .... it is a holiday week.... my dealer siad they only have 1/2 staff all week....

Hey Carla- Are you sure it was loaded on a truck 6/25? (who gave you that info, could it be wrong?) Maybe it's just still at the VDC?

I'd think you should be able to get the straight story from your MA. Maybe he/she hasn't really tried hard enough to get your status correctly? I'd bug your MA!!! No, you are not being paranoid. I'd think they don't just "lose" minis!

Birdman - that could be the case at my dealer too but my MA knows how anxious i am to get my baby and he said he'd call me as soon as it comes in...so hopefully he'll keep his word on that.

Maxshrike0 - My MA gave me that info, even showed me the hardcopy (which btw showed that it should have arrived at the dealership last thurs, 6/28) so i'm very confused. To be honest, i'm a little worried that something bad happened :(!

I returned from a week's vacation in South Dakota this weekend. Called my dealer yesterday and was told that my MINI had arrived in Charleston and should be at the dealership (The Woodlands outside of Houston) within a week. I'm going to Ohio tomorrow and returning on Sunday. Sounds like my car will be ready soon after I return.

Now I'm wondering what I need to do to prepare. Already called my insurance agent, so that's taken care of. Found the title to my current vehicle yesterday; I'm trading it in for whatever they give me. I don't want to hassle with reselling it myself.

Any suggestions on what to do when inspecting the car at the dealer? Maybe a pointer to another thread on this topic. I imagine they will try to sell me dealer options. Any opinions on which ones are worthwile? Clear bra? extended warranty?

I've read several posts about a "clear bra" but haven't read any info on this option which I imagine is to reduce paint chipping damage on front of vehicle.

What about waxing the new car? I haven't waxed a car in years. I remember that one type of wax shouldn't be used because it would interfere with paint touch ups. Are there any threads on here with tips/advice on waxing the MINI?

Max, thanks. By the way, is Minidom a very spiritual place? Will I need a mantra?

Brad - you sound like an expectant parent! I love it! That's exactly how it feels. There are posts all over NAM on the benefits and concerns with various clear bra products (I decided to get the 3M product). Also, I don't have the link here at work, but there is an excellent itemized list posted of things to check at delivery. If no one posts the link before I get home, then I'll get it to you.

Birdman - A great big congrats on this afternoon's delivery. Watch out for the crazies on Sunrise Hwy

Josh/Pav - The day does actually arrive. Sometimes it felt like it never would, but it does.

Thanks all.... "T" minus 3 hours!! But who's counting?

Pictures? I'll try, but once I pick it up, I have a feeling I might not be home for days!! So if I'm gone for a while, no worries, I'm out motoring!!

Hey Phil... Just a few days left for ya... very exciting! Hope to see the pics soon. I feel like I've become a Zen master ... amazingly, the hours seem to pass a little quicker each day. The process up here is a little different.. we go from the VDC/PDI yard in Halifax (by train) to another yard in Ontario, from where it is then trucked to the dealer.

Hopefully the destination yard in Ontario isn't too busy - otherwise it might be parked in a huge lot waiting transport via truck.

My MA (Ryan @ Budds' MINI) has been great all the way through. He knows how excited I am & has told me he'll bump my MINI to the top of the list once he gets it at the dealership.

I don't find the transport time the hardest - its' the "awaiting transport" that sucks....!

Anyways. I think this might be the link you were talking about. I've got it bookmarked already

Hope its the right one...

Nevermind the pictures. I'm willing to give a FEW days grace. Time to get all those weeks of anticipation out of your system!!

Safe and happy motoring! Ask Minibird if he (or is it she?) ran into my young'n on the Undine, would ya??

Thanks, this link is very helpful for check list.

I haven't had time to search for clear bra info yet.

Pav,
Minibird told me he had a ball with Minipav on the way over...!! He said he looked fine, and was looking forward to a nice train ride across the eastern Canadian seaboard.

Good luck everyone!! Was great to finally get in, and drive home in it. What a GREAT car, make no mistake about it.

How often do you drive a car away with 1 MILE on it??

Congrats B'man.
Sharp looking interior with the Nav.
Curious about your first impressions of the voice recognition.
Anxiously waiting for Dame Edna (now somewhere between Baltimore and Charleston).
Hoping to match the speed of your delivery. Ordered 6/11, in production 6/12, left Southampton 6/22, due Charleston 7/5 and then on to the dealer here in the Westoplex.
