R56 R56 Week 24 Production
Hey, tell your dealer to speed it up! OK, I'm sure the wait will be OK... You are almost there! Yeah, who cares what they call it... It seemed common Mini vernacular had it a "Vehicle Distribution Center" (online calls it that too). I'm just hoping they don't send yours to the VPC, I hear that place is CRAZY! (ok, kidding).
FYI, my first mini, Max, was killed somewhere in shipping or at the West Coast (Hueneme) VDC... That wasn't a pleasant call to receive after waiting 8 weeks!
Max the 2nd is on his way though... speed it up, Manon!

Holy S _ _ t! Did you ever find out specifically what happened to Max #1? I would have been beside myself and that ain't pleasant!
Nope, they wouldn't say. Just that it was damaged beyond sellability. Bummer. They did get me a quick produciton slot... Max One was supposed to be delivered on 6/7... Got the call that day. Say it ain't so. By the 8th they had "pulled some strings" and got him rebuilt starting on the 12th....
Yes, I was beside myself. That is not good. Much better now, though. Garage will be clean for Max the Second...
I don't get it i live in Chicago if they could why wouldn't they drop it off at a northern port...
Well, it's only about 120 miles further to go from Charleston to Chicago rather than New Jersy to Chicago. Maybe the Charleston VDC is bigger (can handle more volume), or the shipping schedule was quicker to go through Charleston....
Almost there Birdman!
Let me tell ya, its a bittersweet moment - on one hand I know my MINI is on Canadian soil. On the other hand, I have no idea where and how long until he/she gets here.
I guess everyday is one day closer. I'm gonna deem my MINI arrives to me 2 weeks from now, and begin a "best estimate countdown"!

Getting Closer All the Time
The owners lounge indicated that my car is at the VPC/VDC. Knowing that they're a bit behind, I phoned my MA. She told me the car is scheduled to arrive at Mini of Sterling this Friday! This means that I will likely motor on home with T-Bone sometime next week
NICE!!! Good for you Phil. Which port did Tbone jump ship, NY or Charleston?
Minibird is directly south offshore from my house on Long Island. It's getting pounded by a huge lightning storm right now. I live on the water, and can see the ocean, and can tell ya, I would NOT want to be on the Undine right now!!! But I'm sure Minibird is enjoying the ride.

The extreme rocking of the ship can only build Minibird's character. So when it comes to future challenges of the road, he'll be more than ready!!!
Congrats on having your Minis arrive in the US! I have a question for those of you in who have already endured the wait. Do you remember about how soon before your transport ship left Southhampton that you were able to pull up the booking information from WW?
I think others took about 10 days because the WW ship to the west coast on the week of 6/18 was cancelled. From what I can tell, the WW site doesn't update until about 3 days before the scheduled departure of the ship that you are actually booked on-
You can go to WW's site and get the shipping schedule from Southampton to Hueneme, you should see that they usually send a ship a week, scheduled for Monday departures. You should be able to guestimate which ship you'd be on...
Thank you Maxshrike0! I appreciate the info. You are right, the West Coast ships leave Southhampton every Monday, with the next one being scheduled for July 2nd.
I take it your production finished on a Tuesday, you were able to find the info on WW on Friday and the ship sailed on Monday. Does that sound about right?
You have cut my anxiety in about half!
I won't start getting worried until this weekend then. Well, try would be more accurate than won't.
Thanks again!

Simpson, your vin # will show up on the WW site, as soon as the car is received at the port. As mentioned, it can take from 1 to 3 days to get from the plant (completed production) to the Southampton port. Once it arrives at port, the vin# gets scanned in and you will see it as received.
Good luck!! I'm on the opposite end, waiting to see when I get OFF the ship today. The Undine should have docked this morning in NY harbor. Wish they had a webcam or something.....!! ;-)

Glad I could help... Yes, my mini finished on 6/19, and showed up at WW site on 6/22. But I do NOT believe the WW site updates as soon as it reaches the port.
For example, my mini showed up on ww on 6/22. But when it showed up, it showed my VIN as being "received at terminal" on 6/20, two days earlier.
Also, many folks who's mini's finished the week of 6/12 were sitting on the dock (according to askmini), but were NOT showing up in WW's site until 6/22-23 timeframe. (since the 6/18 ship was cancelled).
I take from this that the WW site doesn't update until closer to the time the ship will arrive, not when your mini is booked or recieved at the terminal.
So, when is yours expected to complete production? I presume you hope to catch the 7/2 ship?
congrats phil k!!!! i'm so excited for you!!! sooooo much more closer!!! i can't wait to see pictures of your new baby!!!
Thanks so much for the good wishes. I'm trying to remain centered, calm and patient; it's difficult. If T-Bone arrives at the dealer tomorrow I will stop by and take some pics and give him a big hug. Okay, now I'm getting ridiculous!
By the way, the owners lounge seems to always be a few days behind. T-Bone was about 1/3 of the way across the Atlantic before it changed to "enroute"
h20baby
It is! I just can't wait to get him home so I can dress him and feed him, teach him, and watch him grow into a daddy's boy.

Great- Yes, you should make the 7/2 shipment no problem... I'd expect you'll show up in WW on or about 6/29... Let us know! Also, I'd expect your ol should move from "Scheduled for Production" to "Awaiting Transport" any day now...
I hope it doesn't mean that there are so few minis going to us in the midwest that our deliveries are being consolidated with some southern deliveries....in that case, my mini is going to be on the truck a long time, maybe even with a stop in Chicago before coming to me in Omaha! I sure hope that isn't the case....

Don't worry, be happy! Your mini gets to the East Coast VDC 14 days sooner than those of us on the West Coast! I bet trucking to the center of the country (Omaha) won't take more than 14days... I guess it might be the price for being landlocked?
