What Is The Notch For?

In the storage area of each door, there is a notch, or groove in the plastic. Anyone know what this is for?

I'm thinking it provides rigidity to the door panel during crash impact testing.

Makes sense. Hadn't thought of that.

I was hoping it was for some type of accessory like the notch in the trunk for the hazard triangle.

Like a Euro part thing , would be pretty cool. Also, the Warning triangle and straps are here for the Clubman if you are looking for them.
