New here - Just placed my order

First off I'm new to this forum - but throughout this process its been really helpful. Been in the market for a fun car for a while to replace our Nissan Altima (great car ... just not fun). Went to the dealership here in town last Friday to try out the Mini Cooper S Hardtop and fell in love with it after 1 test drive. Then came the tough decision between the hardtop and the clubman - went with the clubman S ultimately because of the third door and a little bit more space.

Probably drove my MA nuts with all the questions and back and forth on options - but finalized it today - got 1 of the 2 spots left for our dealer on this next production run.

Looking forward to it getting here - it'll be a tough wait.

Final specs were;

I just realized that I did not spend the $100 for the rear foglight....the rear foglight is not that much of a feature...but the blank space on the switches inside the car is going to drive me crazy....... Just my 2 cents.

Btw... I am in week 4 of waiting and it's tuff.

Any reason you didn't do the body-color c-pillar trim? Maybe it's just me but I always disliked the black or silver only c-pillar colors so I was over the moon when the color-matched c-pillars became an option for 2012.

Oh man, that bothers me too. I'm thinking of just buying a switch and modding my garage door opener into it (I didn't get the HomeLink rearview).

Yep I researched this more last nite and all you need to do is buy a $8 switch.... so if you don't want the rear fog light .... you can just buy a switch.

I will probably use my switch to power driving lights when all is said and done.

Originally going into the dealer I had built what I wanted online and done just that - body color roof and c-pillars. I thought I was set and wouldn't change anything ... but they had a JCW on display in the show room with the black roof/c-pillars - red body. And the more I looked at it the more I loved it. I like that contrast between the roof and body and wasn't a huge fan of the silver option at all with red.
The dealer is about a mile away from me (dangerous!) so the more I went and looked at it the more my mind changed.

Without realizing it the colors of the new Mini will end up matching the accents I did to the engine of my old car (Nissan 300ZX) - those were black and red as well.

thats great news - didn't get chance to talk to my MA yesterday to see about changes - is there somewhere online I could buy the switch? - would like to rig it up to do something (driving lights / garage switch maybe)

The switch can be installed but it will not do anything without programming. Also the switch is just really a toggle that presses a set of contacts on a board that is behind the panel. It is not a traditional switch, nor can you control other items with it.

yetti. Others have reused the switch for other things driving lights garage door opener... what have you..... i think it can be done. otherwise it still is better than just having a blank in the switch bank.

reprogramming will cost like 1 hour of labor at bmw/mini delaership.... kinda of a scam.

nice looking Clubman!

the rear fog is very useful, especially ... well ... in dense fog.

i think it might not be too late to add it to the order if your car is not on the line yet.

Once I see the switch, I'll try to figure out how to do this. If I can get it to work, I'll post a DIY.

Agreed, the red/silver combo just didn't do it for me. The red/black is MUCH better. And maybe it's just me, red is the only color I even like the black c-pillars on, especially with the sport stripes.

I'm not 100% sure how mine will look with EG body/c-pillars and a red roof/mirrors since the configurator isn't updated yet, but I guess I'll find out.
