Newbie to Mini

I just ordered a 16 F55 EB MC/W. This will be the first Mini I have ever owned. I think it's also the nicest car I've ever owned. I always wanted one with a Brit flag on the roof since way back. So that's what I ordered along with white bonnet stripes. I'm excited and nervous at the same time.
Any adice on best practices for maintenance. I've read that one should change oil more often than manufacturer recommends.

Congratulations!

As for the oil change...MINI used to recommend the first oil change at ~15,000 miles. That concept is long gone.

If the F55 is the same as my MINI, your first oil change will be due at 7,000 miles or 1-year. You will get the following message: Service +7000 and the date.

If you want to change the oil more frequently, that is your choice.

Congrats

+1 change it more often , new time frame is 10,000 miles on the computer, was 15,000 miles. Just change it sooner.

Did you get the 1.5L Cooper or the 2.0L Cooper S ?

Change that oil, early and often. Done right with the right products, It'll never hurt the car and ensure many years of fun motoring.

Looks like good advice, especially since my current car is a Honda Fit and you can wait till 10k with no issues. So it'll take a little adjusting on my part.

I've never changed my own oil, only simple stuff like changing batteries, filling fluids. That said, I consider myself fairly technically inclined so it would be matter whether I want to do the physical labor or not. I'll check it out for sure.

Welcome to NAM! Congratulations. Take care of the car and it'll take care of you. If you can afford it, it never hurts to over maintain certain things on the car. Just means it'll last longer! Be sure to post some pictures for us once you get some.

ECSTuning...help me please!

I currently have this displayed on my MINI...I assume it means: Oil Change at 7,000 miles or 1-year. I could be wrong. I have an apt at the dealer on Sept 19, 2015. More to follow...

I picked up my new MINI yesterday. I kept specs pretty simple to keep payments down. I plan on upgrading wheels later on after I save my pennies. So far loving it! Excuse the cell phone pic, proper pics to follow when I get time.

F55 MINI
Electric blue
White bonnet stripes
Media package
Union Jack roof decal (to be installed)

Thanks, I tracked mine all the way to the ship to shore. I was surprised how fast it made to the dealer after it hit port. It arrived at Port Hueneme on Tuesday and at my dealer by Friday. Due to busy weekend, I couldn't pick it up till yesterday. So hopefully it'll go that smooth for you.
