Need opinions on sport stripes

Taking delivery of my Pure Silver/Black Clubman next week. I'm planning to have Sport Stripes added before I take delivery. The obvious choice is the black stripe. But I'm also intrigued with the concept of having a very subtle stripe by using the silver stripe over the Pure Silver. Something akin to using a flat black stripe on a glossy black car. You see it but it doesn't scream out at you.

Any thoughts? Does anyone know how the color of the silver stripe compares to the Pure Silver? Is there enough contrast or would it simply fade into the Pure Silver. It looks good on the Mini build configurator, but I don't really trust the colors on that tool to be real accurate. Here is the configurator's representation:

I'd appreciate any opinions. Thanks

I much prefer subtle and classy and haven't striped mine at all. But if you must, then I think silver pin stripes on silver wouldn't look bad.

It's different, and different is good.

My wife just said it's very "News Printy", and it'd be cool if you worked for a news paper... you could also put headlines on the bonnet. She loves things that are monochromatic, though she's not sure exactly what that word means.

I'm with David and Tim's wife. Terms might be: understated elegance, classic style, subtly chic, and in good taste...

I think the silver on silver would look great. If after time you didn't care for them, they can be removed with out too much hassle and ones put on. I say go for it.

I think silver on silver would look great!! Is your car an MC or MCS? If it is an MCS, check how they'll run the stipe over the scoop....I think it looks much better with the stripe going completely over the scoop, rather than bypassing it. If the factory stripe skips over the scoop, consider doing an aftermarket stripe....you might have more control over the exact shade of silver and any pinstriping. Also, if you plan on getting an aftermarket clearbra, that would go under the stripes, so installing stripes after delivery (and clearbra install) would make more sense.

Just getting the plain old MC. I used to work for Eaton Corporation, a leading suplier of superchargers. It always seemed to me that 4 cylinder cars and superchargers or turbochargers just don't play together well unless you are talking about a racing engine. And reading through all the posts, the majority of engine and heat problems seem to be related to S versions. So I stuck with the 120hp version. Ideally, I would like all the MCS body trim with an MC engine.......

I've looked at some aftermarket stripes. I've striped a car before and it is not terribly difficult to do. But my wife is still up in the air about stripes - so I'm thinking if it shows up without a stripe, I may get "talked" out of it.

Really? I have yet to have a problem with my Eaton M45 Supercharged 2005 MCS.

We owned a 2002 MC for 6 years. Great car but after driving the supercharged version and now owning a Turbocharged Clubman that gets same or better mileage than the '02 115hp Cooper, there is no turning back. Viva la forced induction!

Regarding the stripes.... I am on the fence about them. Sometimes I like them and sometimes they annoy me. Never had them on any of my MINIs but it all depends on the look you are going after. I tend to favor the "classic", "clean" and "Understated" look.

But it is your car so the point of owning a MINI is to make it uniquely yours!

Stripes are cool. I don't have them but the silver on silver looks really sharp to me.

Do you have the bonnet stripes Rdeppen?

I have never liked the appearance of the bonnet stripes. The sport stripes are a classic style - I think that is why they appeal to me.

I DID.....

Saw a picture last night of a Lightning Blue and Silver roof Clubman without them. I pulled the bonnet stripes off today at work. It was nice an sunny so they peeled right off. I like the clean look now.

The stripes your talking about possibly adding look good with that color combo.

I have been debating whether to do the same thing....I like the clean look without them.....yet the "sporty" part of me wants to keep them

My original plan was for a dark silver stripe with chrome edging on my Pure Silver MCS Coupe. However, due to some problems with the vendor I just went for black and figured I'd change them later. I was surprised at how well the black works with the PS car. It sets off the black trim nicely. I'm not sure DS would really look as good overall.

One thing I found is that, before the stripe, SUV were more likely to cut in front of me than they are with the stripe. I think they looked in their rearview mirror, saw an econobox, and thought, "I don't want to be behind that wimpy car. It will probably drive too slow." Now they are more likely to think the drive could be a crazy person who is likely to drive fast and be suseptible to road rage when cut off. All speculation on my part, but it seems that I rarely get cut off now. I was surprised how often it happened before the stripe. Much worse than in my silver Integra.

Not a big fan of the Viper-stripes on a Clubman..

The Clubman generally doesn't take striping very well

That's what that "sporty" part of me thinks too!

The sporty part of me will just put on a REALLY nice set of wheels and some super sticky won't last 10,000 miles Falken Azenis RT-615's

My fifteen year old daughter and my wife think I'm having a mid life crisis with this car. LOL

Stripe detail

On my Silver stripe there is a small ( a little wider than 1/8th inch) Gloss black edge on both edges but not top and bottom.
This may be the distiction that might make it noticable, yet subtle, Hmmm

I like it but it looks unfinished, isnt it?
