Another hood stripe removal thread

So, I've been talking about removing the factory stripes from my '09 Clubman S and I finally decided to do it this afternoon.

90*, humid and after a drive home in rush hour traffic. Pulled an edge with my fingernail and both stripes came off in one piece. Literally took like 5 minutes.

The car is silver so of course, there's some ghosting and considering I've not done anything else yet, to me, they're obvious.

Questions. What's best to remove any residue (can't really see any) that won't harm the paint?

I know washing, claybar and wax will be in order. Just curious about what to use to make sure I've got all the adhesive off.

Thanks.

Oh, here's the result:

Any automotive supply company will have adhesive removal stuff that won't harm the clear coat. WD40 works too and you've probably already got some of that.

Yep, who doesn't have WD40? just didn't think about using that. For some reason I thought it could harm the paint.

Come to think of it though I did see that youtube vid where the guy was removing scratches in the paint with WD.
