Exhaust pop - I know it's supposed to...

My wife has an 05 MCS. She HATES the pop. Anybody know if there is a relatively cheap way to get rid of it?

Just don't let off the gas.

Mine has quieted significantly, I have to shut everything off and listen for it with no traffic around, after 45k in 16 months

Trade with my '04?
Seriously though, you MAY be able to do something with MTH or some other aftermarket ECU software.

MTH tuning?

Maybe the exhaust pop can be eliminated through a chip tuning program like MTH.

Check with them and see if they can help.

Be nice guys!

Check out the JCW exhaust- its got a nice (different) sound...
Have her check out alternatives (aftermarket) and find a tone she likes.

Good luck!

Don't get the Dinan exhaust! The pops are now very loud. I don't mind, but your wife would prolly leave you and the car.

one of the biggest things i miss about the mini going to my new car are the pops, that and a backseat! Even having a '03, with an aftermarket exhaust, the backfiring was awesome!! I loved keeping it in gear and just barely touching the accelerator, letting it pop all the way to a stop! Maybe try a more restrictive cat... that might stop some of backfiring, other than that, i offer no help!

Much quieter ... and you get the benefit of at least 10 bhp.

The JCW is quiet and pleasant, but it still has the popping sound. It's not loud or obnoxious, but it's still there (at least on the 05 and newer)

I don't like the burble at all, but there's too much fun going on to really care all that much

Doesn't the burble have to do with engine timing? If so, it should be treatable with an ECU program, no? Different exhausts will only muffle/amplify.
