My Mini Is Gone!

Well, I woke up this morning, took shower, got dressed, and slowly walked out to my 2006 mini cooper S and it was gone! NO where to be found! Well that was 9am this morning. Now i have called the police, my ins company and filed claims. Now i am waiting for Enterprise to pick me up and rent me a car! Nothing will be like my mini!

Wow, sans a trailer or human error, that's a feat!
You've checked to see that it wasn't towed by the city?

THOSE BASTARDS! THEY STOLE MINI!

You're not in NYC are you? Another thread talked about seeing a Mini with the wheels stolen.

I guess the thieves are catching up to the engine immobilizer.

A recent article in Car & Driver about auto theft says a dummy ECU could get around the immobilizer.

If you had a picture to post, we could keep our eyes open for it, there are a lot of people on NAM and I know we all watch closely for other mini's on the road.

Not sure what state you're in but in most cases you better hope they DON'T find it. It usually has to be missing for 3+ weeks before insurance will pay for it. If it is found, some states (Cali) requires a salvage title be issued for it, if not it will be in the vehicle history thus reducing it's value greatly.

I had my truck stolen years back and they found it a day before it was to be a total loss. I was already looking forward to getting something new.

In the end you still take a hit financially and emotionally whether it's found or not. Sorry.

Even worse it's usually someone that just takes it for a joy ride and ditches it.
They'll likely not get caught.

Given the fact that they have to work around the engine immobilizer, I'd rule out random joyriding...

Oh man oh man that is just wrong! They obviously don't know the 11th commandment- Thou shall not covet thy neighbor's MINI!

I hope the insurance is not a hassle!

Good idea Minitenango- put out an APB on NAM, there's a lot of helpful eyes out there.

That sucks to have your MINI stolen.
A friend of mine had his stolen a while back. He himself saw it on the road so called the police. They caught the joyriding rats.

They were playing their own CDs in his car. The cops let him keep them.

I hope everything turns out okay for you.

Wow... when joyriding teens can get around the "high-tech, computerized immobilization system" (touted as a plus by my sales associate), I gotta ask "what's the effing point"?

Now here's an idea! Mini seats by Martin-Baker! Remotely activated in the course of a theft. Just tell the cops to look for someone flying through the air without a parachute!

Very true!
My buddy's MINI was stolen with the key in car.
