I gotta couple questions for you.
when you had your wheel arches painted, did you get someone to paint them for you or did you do it yourself? how well is the paint on there? it won't come off easily will it?

He explained to me that regular primer will crack when flexed like our plastic arches and clear coat flexes. He has done this to many other vehicles and none have peeled or cracked. As for the cost, it was $1000 for the whole car.

So the Official Checkmate club should now be called the Official Limited Checkmate Club. The checkmate option is not available on the miniusa website. So whoever already has em, has em.
So if you got one, let's see it!

You know what, that's exactly what my MA said, arriving at Port Hueneme on the 15th of July. At first, I thought my mini is at Isolde, which is arriving on July 11, that why I was a little confuse. Great, I finally found someone on the ship as I am. It's gonna be a long 2 weeks wait :-)
OMG I would be freaking out having to wait that long, this is bad enough already. Let me know what you all think, I have been playing with the idea of painting the lower black trim silver to match roof. Or "if" I do get it painted should it just be the dark silver?
Painting the lower black trim seems to be a very popular topic lately. If I have an extra cash, I'll do it. Maybe I'll do it later on. IMO, having a color matching lower trim enhances the mini look.

I like it a lot. I think it looks really nice. There is a way of doing it yourself too. As I've been reading here. There is a website that you order your paint color in a spray can. You order a couple cans of that and a couple cans of clear coat. Oh and some primer too.
Also have been reading that the best way to paint them is to lay down a base of clear coat, then primer, and then paint and clear.
Apparently the primer does not stick to well to the black pieces on its own. It will just flake off. If you use a clear coat as a base, it will actually flex with the plastic piece.
