R50/53 Things You Didn't Know About Your MINI
Hi
I am new on this forum.
I too have read so many posts on this thread (my personal favorite) I might just have to spend several days just sitting in my MINI. What could be better? driving my MINI!!
anyway I hope I am on the right thread. I put air in my tires...regular not run-flats when the orange light on the speedo started blinking. They are fine according to my tire pressure gauge but the light keeps blinking. Is this something I have to have fixed by a professional or is a do it myself thing?
Thanks in advance

PP 61-63 of the UK manual refers, but I don't have a US one.
Thanks Mini2Go.
As to reset of the runflat. I have regular tires not run flat. I bought the car used and have been figuring out most of the stuff she has or doesn't have with my friends at the local BMW place where my mechanic owns a MINI.
I just need to take off work and go over there.
thanks for the input
Yes it looks like the one with the ! in it. It is orange and blinking. Is that the traction or the tire pressure?
Thanks Mini2Go.

It must be reset each time the pressures are adjusted. (I assume you got a manual with your car and I'm sure another US member could refer you to the right pages - but if not, come back and I'll see if I can do an extract from mine!)

Thanks for everyone's help. I guess I am one of the guilty ones someone mentioned who didn't read my manual thoroughly enough. I am having a particularly dense day.
I spent my lunch hour reading my manual.
I found the reset button on the emergency brake...neatly hidden by the aftermarket rubber tray that fits under the emergency brake..
And voila...my traction control is happy and so am I.

Things I'd like to know: How do the self-washing headlights work?
There's not much about this in the manual, except how to fill the resevoir. I'm just curious about when and how the "self-washing" process takes place. What does it wash, exactly?
It's been a while since I had to explain or think about this, so I might not get the details 100% but:
The headlights will only squirt once for every third pull on the windshield squirters within a specific time period (I forget the amount of time before the count is reset) and this is when the headlights are on.
I'm sure someone will correct me if that's wrong - but it's very close!

I had wondered about that too. That was a cool video
Another mystery of life solved!
Probably been posted but just found this in my mini.
In the glove compartment (aside from being air conditioned) there is a little sunglasses holder in the part that folds down. Great for my cause I was looking for a place to store my sunglasses in my Mini.

When you're using the cruise control, and you want to kick the cruise off for a moment, there is no need to hit your brakes; just press the on/off button ONCE, and the cruise control brain will still be active and remember your previously set speed when you press the Resume button.
Interior Lights
Not sure if this is true or mentioned earlier, but... It appears if you leave the door ajar enough for the interior lights to stay on, they will eventually go out, rather than run down your battery.
I was charging my battery, so the trunk was open slightly. I could see the light was still on. After the charge was done, I saw the light was off. Opened the door and the light did not come on. Uh-oh, I thought. Turned the key and everything was normal.

I can't read through all umteen pages of this thread, but I would love to know how to turn off the autolock doors!!! I hated this on american cars when I lived there and just bought and 06 with this feature, Over 10mph the doors lock. Can this be de-activated?
many thanks. Peter

I have a question:
I remember someone posted in the tread before saying if you hold down the unlock button when you unlock the car, the windows will open. Does this work on 02 Mini Coopers? I tried and nothing happened.

exactly and depending on the dealer be prepared to pay a small fee.
I think thats why the salesman told him to be sly about it.
More so than a safety issue.
It is normally free if you have many of the ON/OFF features done right after you buy it from them.
I have had mine for about a year now and I keep forgetting to tell them that I want the daylight feature turned on.
