Nah! That wasn't directed to you.
That was directed at thecigarman for making an off topic remark which goes against his own complaint.

Comes in handy when detailing too.
While working long hours for weeks at a time this spring, I used to push the button twice (once heats lower & upper seat portions; twice back portion only; and thrice shuts it off completely) so just the back portion came on, which warmed and soothed my aching back while driving home. If it had a massage feature, that would've been icing on the cake!

Just read your post and had to check:
My '03 non-S redline is the small line just before 7K.

Automatics and manuals have different redlines. My guess is that Striped Toad's MC (with the lower redline) is an auto.

The clubman and maybe the coupe too is engineered to have only one backup light ( i think on the right) for reverse driving purposes.
Several concerned buddies have encouraged me to get the rear back up light fixed, here in So Cal we have left and right. Read in the manual it is made that way. Well...it shows they are checking me out

1) You can listen to Harmon Kardon Stereo w/o key in ignition.. After shutting down car, press HK's stereo's main on/off button twice......
2) You can lock all doors and sun roof closes with key in dr side door lock held in lock position for more than 2 seconds.
3) Glove box rear corner has a port that allows cold A/C air into it to keep bottle of water cold....
4) If you hold down key fob unlock button long enough, all door unlock, windows open and sunroof opens as well.
5) There is an emergency rear boot release cable wire under back seat cushsion should boot electrical system fail.
6) Run Flat tires actually carry all the weight of the MINI cooper on it's side walls and NOT the center foot print of the tire like standard tires do.....
7) Actor Steve McQueen owned every neat car you could think of, from two Original MINI's to a Porsche and a Ferrari. But he preferred the MINI, and it was his daily driver in California, and it had 12 inch rims.......lol.

58 pages is a lot to review but if memory serves me, I don't think those two have come up before..

Folding door mirrors

Folding door mirrors are not ment for driving on narrow roads in Europe or Asia, if this is what you mean... They are ment for parking - granted - in narrow back streets or parking lots. The intent is to hinder damages done by bypassers in either cars or on foot.
Also vandalism is rampant some places here. Not so in America?

Learned this one today.

If you forget you are running low on gas and look down at the OBC range reading on the highway and it says 1 mile 3 miles from the next exit its ok. Stop doing 90 go about 65 instead. You'll watch your range drop to 0 miles then 3 horizontal lines (like the speed reading when you aren't moving).

Don't panic if by this point you are less than a mile from a station its ok when you hit the top of the ramp your slower speed will have altered the average and majically given you another mile range. By the time you go another 1/2 mile at 45 you'll be back up to 3 miles range.

VERY MUCH SO in America. But, I'd have to say (having lived in Asia, Europe, AND the U.S.) that the roads in America are typically MUCH wider, and very few people end up needing the folding mirrors. I know that I personally haven't used mine since I left Germany.

At least in the 1st Gen, the heat selection only changes it from high to low to off -- it heats both lower and upper in either "on" setting.

Which I wish they would change, 'cause I would prefer to heat only my back without boiling my . . . groin area.

What year is your MINI? Otherwise this is a common assumption people make because it makes sense.

The "three" settings for my 2006 heated seats are "off" / "low" [one light] / "high" [two lights.] There is no upper and lower seat setting.

Folding mirrors may have application on narrow streets but the real purpose is so that they fold back if a pedestrian is hit by them to reduce injury. They are a required safety design of all newer (last 15 years?) cars. There can be no protrusion on a vehicle that does not either breakaway, is flexible or folding.

My Colorado pickup has them and so did my last 4 jeeps (Grand Cherokees and Wranglers) all of my wife's past CTSs and now her Murano. In fact I know of no vehicle that does not have them.

This was a thread about electrically folding door mirrors (by turing the mirror adjustment button down from inside the car) - think this in standard equipment on Chilli-Pack in Europe, not that one manually can fold the mirrors in by hand when outside the car.

Mine is an '06; the 2 lights indicate bottom and back, hence 'full' heating. If u press it once, this 'full' heating effect occurs. If u hit the button once more, only the back portion is heated; one more tap turns it off completely.

My husband's 2006 Scion tC doesn't have folding mirrors. Neither does our 2005 Camry or '97 Sentra, 2005 Quest or my mother's '05 Suzuki. My 2002 Infiniti G20 did have folding mirrors, but I thought they were only useful when I used to live in NYC and had to parallel park.
