R50/53 The"can't wait for May"club
Hi,
It looks as if I am in the may club. My owners lounge info shows I am scheduled for production for March 29. Delivery is to be early May. Thanks to all of the veterans here for all of the information you have made available to us newbies. My baby is to be MCS IB/B. I can't believe i am finally going to become a MC owner.

UGH!!! the second page so here is my story for today...nice day here in Chicago time to start getting the beast ready to sell...I saw a nice yellow/yellow mini Thursday night on Lake Shore Drive...getting through traffic very well
when do you think that we'll start seeing a change in status on miniusa? i saw a cool indiblue today in concord, ma.
lastwave- did you try using your current car as a trade-in? i'm wondering if mini will give me a good deal on my golf for a trade-in.... i have to pay off the loan. but i just don't know about the hassle of selling the golf myself...
what's everyone's opinion?

How old's the Golf? In this economy, with gas prices as they are, I think an economy car priced below $5000 or $6000 should be easy to sell... probably to a contrite SUV jockey looking for a cheap commute.
Anything valued above $6000 or so I'd try to trade to the dealer, as it could take a long time to find a buyer these days.

My car is hitting the Sunday paper tomorrow and I dread it. I'm going to try and sell it myself as I doubt I would get much from the dealership and really don't want to go in the hole. Hope everyone has good luck selling their cars.
Man, today would have been a perfect day to be out in a Mini.

The folks at the dealership where I bought my mini haven't committed to taking it but I believe they will. I might be able to get more on private sale but to me it isn't worth the hassel of clearing checks and dealing with titles..so if i get a good offer from the dealership I'll take it and save myself the bother....

well- the Golf is a 99 with 50,000. it has all the little perks (cd changer/ sunroof/ etc) but the problem is it was originally a lease, which i opted to buy out (NEVER AGAIN) so i leased it for 3 years- paid financing for one- and still owe $8,000! (this is the value of the car) I decided rather than paying it off i would try to just zero out my financing and get my mini!
I think i'll follow lastwave's route- see how good of a deal the dealership will give me and otherwise sell privately.

Yipes! Almost on page two of the site, so I guess I had better do my part for the CWFMC!
I'm "trading down" (IMO) to the MCS from an '00 S2000. I'll miss the convertible top, 240HP, RWD, and best shifter on the planet
. I'm super relieved that the MINI is as fun to drive as they say, as I was getting worried that there was nothing worthwhile in the ~$20K range. My wife and I were just about decided to get a new Mazda 6i when we decided to visit my family in Houston, leading to an MCS test drive -- wanted one from the time I took the first freeway underpass U-turn. I'll trade practicality for fun any day

As a fellow S2000 owner, I hate to see you have to trade in the S2000, but if there was any car that I would be okay for trading it in for, the MCS has got to be one of my first choices.
Luckily the MC is for my Fiancee, so I don't have to get rid of the S2000. HOPEFULLY when we have kids on the way, the S will be paid off, and I can turn it into the weekend cruiser, and get a more sensable car to haul kids around in. Thank goodness that is at least 3-4 years off though!!

Wat am I doing to pass the time before the MINI arrives...well, there's layoffs at work today, so that will be how some of the time is passed...and if I get laid off, then I get to spend my time finding a job fast so we can still get the MINI!
On the bright side, if I don't get laid off, my Fiancee and I are driving from Portland to LA to celebrate my friend and my birthday! It's going to be college all over again!

Most of our Mini's still have a few weeks before production. Unless you get put on a sail boat I would think yours should be delivered in April.
Airwolf, congratulations on going to work in the morning.

I have spent alot of wait time looking at aftermarket gear. I would like to find a place to have the s lite wheels chromed. The red one in the gallery with the chrome wheels looks awesome. I have ordered the factory chrome mirror covers.
I have not found a name for mini yet.
How bout yall?

Found out that our build date is April 4th... Hopefully we can stay in the May Club!
As far as some of you selling your cars...we're trying to sell our Macgregor sailboat and Victory motorcycle on the web. I'm not so sure it's worth it. We keep getting these cryptic e-mails from dudes in Africa wanting to buy them sight unseen. Very weird and I don't know if it's just some 10 year old who can't spell or a scammer who has me in his sights.
I think going to local/regional publications to sell is a better way to go (after this experience).
Anyway, at least we know we're getting close to the delivery room

OK, my scheduled production week is only ten days away, and the OL still lists my MINI as being "On Order"... does anyone know how soon before the build date the official web status display changes from "On Order" to "Scheduled for Production"?
