R50/53 The"can't wait for May"club
Figured it was time for 1st post. Ordered 3-13-03, told 2.5 months for delivery. Mini is on the CARMEN, scheduled for port 4-22-03. Expect 1st week of May delivery! Can't wait.
My Mini is Velvet Red Cooper, Black roof, Premium, sport and cold package, CVT, black profile leather, Xenon, HK, anthracite, 16" performance run flats, black bumper inserts, black bonnet stripes (dealer). Think I added another half a car looking at the price, but clearly worth it.
Want to add a rally number on side but having difficulty finding them.
Looking forward to driving the winding back roads of Southern Maryland soon!

>>Has anybody found any of our ships on the ocean weather site? Not the Isolde.
>>
>>We are nearing page 2............
Maybe we can find something on the net that records ships passing hrough the Panama Canal as the ISOLDE it set to do. I have looked at least once a day for the ISOLDE call sign on the OceanWeather site but have had no luck.

Back up to page 1....
I assume that no one has been able to locate the ISOLDE OR the CARMEN? As I am loosing hope to even find the ISOLDE on the ocean weather site, I have moved to searching for any MINI carrying auto ship...of course with no luck at all.
I'd really like to at least be able to see progress every few days. And, I'd love to see the ISOLDE go through the Panama Canal.

While I still remember...has anybody thought about buying the MINI Luggage? If so, were you able to haggle with your salesman to get them any cheaper? I think that $467 for three pieces of luggage is rediculous!! If it was $300, then I MIGHT think about it...but it would still be a stretch!!!
Found out yesterday that my Mini is on it's way over the pond. The car is on the Carmen, and from the looks of the previous posts, the car is not too lonely.

I have purchased the set and was not able to get them down on price, but I did talk to a couple of friends that used to work for Samsonite and they said that set could easily be up around $700-$800. I justified it because I have already been taking alot of road trips w/out my MINI ( have not recieved as of yet) and anticipate taking alot more once I get my MINI.

Awesome! I just called ASK MINI and found out that my DS/DS MCS finished production this morning and is waiting for a trip to the dock. Now I know how all you guys with cars on the boat felt 2 weeks ago! If I can just sell my 911 Porsche this weekend I'll be all set.
Well, I still can't locate the CARMEN or the ISOLDE, but at least I was able to find the JINGU MARU on its way back to Europe. At least I was able to find one boat that I could recognize......where are you ISOLDE!!!!????
I called Ask Mini this morning and found out that my MINI is in the paint shop! Much better than sitting around waiting for production!
How long does it take for the MINI to go through the production process? The lady I spoke to at Ask Mini said "it depends" and wouldn't give me anything more specific.
On a side note, it's interesting how the answers differ depending on who you speak to at Ask Mini.

It looks like you and I are the only ones left in the CWFM club whose cars are just finishing up. I read a thread the other day that said it took anywhere from a week to 10 days to go through production. It took mine a week. It was finished this morning and awaiting transport to the docks.

>>Hey, the Owner's Lounge today promoted me to EN ROUTE... six days after the ISOLDE sailed. A little slow, but sure.
Me too! Not that there was any doubt but it was nice to see the update. If we don't find the ship soon it will be here.

If you look at the map on the ocean site, Carmen should be about where the mid-Atlantic high is, (where all the wind flags make a circle). Just about half way.
Fair winds Carmen.

Sounds like we're in/on the same boat, Stinger. Mine also went to the dock on the 18th. Looks like we'll be coming over on the Tosca which is set to sail on 4/24. Even armed with this knowledge, I can't help myself but check the site daily (ok, really more than that) to see if I've moved to the "En Route" status yet. I can't remember when I've been more excited!!!! If you're getting off in Jersey like me, I believe it said it will dock on 5/2. Get your driving gloves prepped!!
I have also been updated to en route. Three days until the Carmen arrives in NY and 5 days for Charleston.
On a side note, I was a little frustrated with my MA last weekend. I've been trying to sell my car and so far no firm takers. I talked with him on the phone about trade in value and he told me to bring the car up and have it appraised. After the 1 1/2 hour trip we arrive and he doesn't even look at the car. He just types the info in the computer and gets an auction price. Luckily we had other plans or I would have been furious about driving that long for him to give me something that he could have done over the phone.
