April.

I met my now wife on April 1st, 2002.
I ordered my '05 MINI on April 1st, 2005.
Two very significant days in my life.
The name just seemed to work for us. :-)

We bought a hot orange MCS convertible, and had black stripes installed on bonnet and boot before delivery. It reminded me of a chipmunk's markings...so it became "Chippie". Then my wife accidentally hit a chimpmunk with Chippie, driving to work one morning.....sort of cemented the name for us.

Living in Philly I'm a big Eagles fan. My Mini is BRG cabrio with black and silver stripes. Had to call it "MINI EGL"

My MINI came home. I struggled for a name. :impatient Everyone kept asking me, "what's her name?". I felt like a bad, neglectful, unloving, parent...I just didn't know.

A veteran owner told me, "quit stressing...she will tell you her name when she's ready".

3 weeks later, I had a Zoomers exhaust system installed. I took her for a twisty adventure out in the local mountains.

She kept saying, "ROOOOOAAAAAR...burple, burple, bap, bap, bap...ROOOOAAAAR". I caught myself saying, "you're such a LilTiger".

And thus...she was christened, "LiLTiger"

Since I'm in the satellite building business, "Copernicus" had a nice ring to it...

there are some fun and interesting names here, but I did not name my auto. I've never done that with my vehicles. I think of them as machines.

*gasp*....I....can't....breathe....

Your MINI is dying for you to identify with it. You don't have to be defined by your MINI, but at least get to know s/he.

Jake! I was thinking about something British - Winston, Nigel, Simon. Before I took delivery I was just thinking about my MINI and how sweet it would be at delivery and "BAM" the name came to me. His name is Jake!

What's really fun is my Mom, family, friends all ask "How is Jake?" "Did you take Jake or...".

Cool Blue reminded me of the ocean, waves, etc. so "Ariel" from the Little Mermaid movie seemed to fit.

Mikes "Gizmo" - well - we happened to see a Beanie Baby in a store one day and said hum....his name is now Gizmo..

My COOP (06MCS) has finally told me his name. He is Ripp or, if I am feeling particularly froggy, Rippington.
Why?
There is a jazz band called The Rippingtons that I really like, and there is a song called "Stingray" on their "Let it Ripp" CD that, every time I play it (the louder the better) makes me smile and also makes me drive a little faster...it's especially nice on a good motoring road (curving, winding, you know...)

Also, Ripp likes to rip up the road. So it fits.

"Bender" after "Bender Bending Rodriguez"

Bender and Bender have so much in common.

Sounds like a bad transmitter. Can you do anything about it?

A co-worker recently suggested that I get license plates that say either "over easy" or "sunny side up". Discuss spelling amongst yourselves...
