Just plain Max. After Peter Max, the pop artist/illustrator who did the animated movie Yellow Submarine. Among the cast of characters in that film was the "Blue Meanie" (pictured below). Blue Meanie / Blue MINI. Convoluted logic, I know, but that's where the name came from.

My 05 MCS JB/JB is called "Betty" from the song Black Betty. My 05 MCSDT PS/B is named "Paris" and not after you know who. I had just bought Faith Hill's lastest album and it had the song "Paris" on it. When I picked up Paris at the dealership, I didn't have my iPod installed yet but had my cd and played the song a thousand times that day. The name just stuck in my mind and I think my pure silver cabrio looks like a Paris.

13 days??? It's still a baby!!!!

You got to give it time, learn how to walk AND talk. Then she'll let you know

Wait until it hits puberty and then wow ... it won't want to talk to you!

The picture says it all. Actually, hubby (YuccaPatrol) named her, but it seemed to fit. Why fight nature?

My pepper white..."Boo" (like the other PW in this thread)...is named after the little ghost from Super Mario Brothers.
The side view mirrors even look like the ghost's arms a little.

my 02 cooper is called 'squirt' because he's yellow and small.

my 78 austin mini is called 'the blue d3mon' cuz, well, he's blue and a speed demon.

my wife's 05 cabrio remains nameless.

Mine is called Moskito because it seems like a little insect compared to other cars and it has a mean sting to it.

Fellow traveler

Mine's got a name, but I don't use it. I initially dubbed it "Genie", from Aladdin. "Phenominal cosmic power, itty bitty living space" and all. I couldn't ever bring myself to call it anything other than "the MINI", however.

I recently read "Moon Shot" and learned that Sputnik means "fellow traveler", so "the MINI formerly known as Genie" is now Sputnik. Not that I'll likely use that name, either, but there you have it.

I think there's also a passing resemblence between the MINI and Sputnik, mostly in the antenna.

Sputnik:

Named my MCS "Marvin" for several reasons:

1) the car has soul and Marvin Gay had soul
2) My deceased brother (will be 1 year later 11-19 - died suddenly at age 35 of a genetic heart condition (Brugada syndrome) we didnt know he had)... Anyway, we LOVED cars since we were kids and he was planning to buy an MCS but didnt get the chance so I bought one and the "soul" part fit nicely

My PS/B MCSC is named Stirling in honor of the great cooper climax (among others) driver Stirling Moss. It is also somewhat of a play on the color with a slight spelling error.

Careful there, the real Miss Moneypenny might get upset if she sees that, good thing you're in California and she's in Florida 'cause my MINI can kick your MINI's boot!

Her name is Bluebonnet cause there's nothing prettier than a Texas Bluebonnet so I named her after one. But her nick name is in the sig line. Justa. Justa Cooper. Bone stock and I like it that way!

My CR/W MCS is "awaiting transport" but when it arrives it will be dubed "Lenny". Named after my father a car buff who in '64 bought a P-1800 that I wound up with at 18 after he replaced it with a 240-Z the year it was introduced driving that for the next decade. In his 90's when the Mini came out, I learned he'd found MiniUSA.com and was busy building his next ride. I happily obliged him too and got him one... although it was a Mini model, it became the centerpiece of the dining room table and always a conversation piece. He kidded about it's handling, reliabilty and great fuel economy. He'd often remark "I can't even remember when the last time it needed fuel". We lost him earlier this year and although I hardly need to give his name to a car to remember him by, somehow it seems fitting. I know he'd like it.

An Epiphany I Tell You!!

So here I am, sitting in a small diner in Broomfield, Colorado. Obsessing over my soon to be ordered MCS (as usual) and reading through the posts here at NAM. Right in the middle of reading the "What Did You Name Your Mini," there it is. My color choice becomes clear to me, and the name of my Mini appears in glowing letters held aloft by a woman's hand emerging from my coffee cup. It's an epiphany I tell you! Okay, I may have over elaborated about the hand in the coffee thing. But a name did come to me as if by magic! Thanks for the shared energy in helping me with this additional detail of obsession! BTW, the color choice is RED and the name shall be in honor of Grant Naylor, one of the funnier authors out there. Cheers!

I named my old 92 VW Corrado SLC "Pitpass" because
I'm a big race fan. Sold that car and bought an '04
VW GTI but it has absolutely no character or soul
or personality. Its just a plain dull car so I never
named it but my new '06 DS/DS MCS to be in my
hot little hands in January will also be worthy of
the name "Pitpass". I'm also considering naming
it "MI5", the British intelligence agency.
