What did you give up?

So what did you give up to own a MINI?

I am giving up my Jeep Wrangler. I can't bring myself to have two cars, so I have gone with the better of the two.

Today I realized that I am going to miss my Jeep. I pulled into my parking lot at work, its a security gate lock, and they had part of the enterence blocked. I had to drive over the curb, down the walkway, and back over the curb on the other side into a different parking lot. Lots of fun in a Jeep, but I don't think a MINI would be able to clear the curb, let alone make it down the other side.

I gave up a 2004 MCS to get my '05 MCS

Before the '04 MCS I gave up a '01 Chevy Impala LS that I don't miss to this day and which I hardly remember (Pretty forgettable car)

My wife gave up a '97 Mercury Tracer to get her '02 MC CVT

I had a company car - 2002 Impala, so I didn't really "give up" anything. Man, that thing was a boat! Wonk! Wonk!

I didn't give up anything worth noting either. My diminished need for a multi-passenger vehicle (4-door sedan...went to the kids) and MINI showed up at the same time so I was in. I coulda bought another boring commuter car, but for the same money I bought my Cooper (lightly, but deliberately appointed) instead. What a steal!!!

Yup - my wife had a company Taurus - not a bad car for what it was (and for the price - free!) but when she changed jobs, we figured the MINI was best for the commute and weekend fun.

Haven't looked back.

I am in the process of trying to find an owner for my '97 Miata. She will be missed, but I am moving on to "bigger" better things.

I'm not sure giving up is a good word. I traded in a 1999 Acura TL. The TL was great the first year but then it wasn't as fun as it used to be.

Gave up nothing yet. Next in line to go is a 2000 VW Passat, a fine car. But at the moment we have 3 drivers and having 3 cars adds flexibility.

In 3 years (no kids in car seats) we can get rid of the damn minivan (Chrysler T&C ) and move back to a wagon as our utility car. We had a Volvo V70 and miss it, but my wife has Mercedes envy, so we'll likely buy a used E class wagon.

I bought my MINI the day i got into an accident with my 91 miata. Dad said he didn't want a lawn ornament... so after not driving the miata for a week of owning the both, i sold it off to it's previous owner Atleast he's happy now that he has his beloved car back...

NOW I WANT ANOTHER 91 MIATA!!!!

Well, it was her first car right out of college and while it was unexciting and rather dull, it was a fairly good car nevertheless. She bought it used (1 year old) and kept it until July 2002. We sold it privately for $4,500. She had paid for it $9,800 back in October '97, so it figures she got her money's worth.

I gave up nothing. I bought an ‘87 S10 pickup to drive until I traded a car sitting on my driveway in and got the MCS. Then the truck sat on the driveway for a 1 ½ years so I sold it also.

I gave up (gladly!) my 1999 Mitsubishi Mirage. I never meant to have that car as long as I did - it had great gas mileage and it was very inexpensive. I bought it to replace my 1995 Jeep Wrangler. I loved my Jeep - couldn't handle not having air conditioning in Atlanta and at 4 years old, I was pushing 100k.

I'm so happy to have finally purchased another car that I can love! My Mirage was just relatively cheap transportation. If you spend so much time in your car, you should really enjoy it, and now I certainly do!
