R50/53 THE APRIL CLUB
I'm over it. My rebound color is now a done deal.
Explaination?
I saw my first Black/white MCS a few days ago. I was horrified; it was NOT what I expected.
The Result?

Cheers,
Ryan

WOW!!! It's MM2...
I have to admit I'm pleasantly surprised, I really like the MINI in those bright primary colors. My son and I have been playing Italian Job on his playstation. While I obviously always choose the red MCS, he loves the blue one and is trying to earn the blue S with the UJ on the roof.
So what do y'all think about the MCO uproar and the various reactions from members??? While I am disgusted with the legal issues I'm still having a hard time with the "debadging" movement. Somehow it seems like a pointless gesture to me, kind of like defacing your own car and to what end? Is a de-badged MINI any less a MINI?
I'd love to hear your thoughts about all this. I truly hope that MCO will live on (even if a new name is necessary) and with all the passion and enthusiasm of the people on this site I'm quite sure it will. It has been interesting to read some of the very strong reactions...selling the MINI, cancelling orders, etc. I guess I admire their conviction, but I think I would have a hard time walking away from such a great car, even if the manufacturer starts acting like a (gasp!) large corporation.
Catch y'all later!

I agree Rich; although it's tragic that most likely MCO will soon have a new name, the great people and fun environment will stay the same. In the "will this be your last MINI?" thread, I said something like "...there's no way in hell I'll be cancelling my order for MM2 just 'cuz some big corporation has their marbles askew..." There simply is no good reason to deny yourself the best car for the money for a political situation we have basically no control over.

Ryan - good choice. Mr. Motor2 is just right.
Chef - I read the posted response from MINIUsa. It seemed reasonable. I can understand that they have to protect their marks - as long as it is reasonable. This forum should just change it's name and get on with it.

Your $.02 is worth $5.00 to me! I totally agree. I have a MCS on order too and I won't change what car I drive, remove it's badge, talk it down, etc... just because the internet site I use for references, parts, advise, etc... has to change it's name. The forum is not why I'm buying the car, the car is why I'm at the forum.
You know that Apple computer stops anyone who uses the word apple or mac in relation to anything about computers? You can't run a commercial site about anything to do with computers and use any of those words. So same with BMW, they aren't going to allow a commercial site about their car, that makes a profit to use any of it's names. And the key word here is "commercial " site. Running a business out of your home is different than just living there and having friends over. Same for these sites on the internet.

>>ok, so I'm downloading Rachels' video now. It's gonna take a while
Overall, hard drives aren't so expensive anymore. It's not a huge deal to pick up a hundred gigabytes here or there.

Yes I think they DO make a distinction between commerical and non-commercial sites, but there are PLENTY of non-commercial ones out there with 'mac' in their names, like macosrumors, macnn, macintouch, powerbookcentral, maccentral, appleturns, appleinsider. Nearly all of them have advertising banners on them, just as MCO does.
I know of two commercial sites with the name Mac... macwarehouse and macsales, but they may be paying apple for the privilege of that one for all I know.
>>Rachel; cool video, even though it really could've been condensed into 5 minutes
>>How much track-time did were you able to get?
>>Motor-On!
>>Ryan
You don't have to tell me that! It was a HUGE victory to get it condensed THAT much. Boyfriend wanted the WHOLE THING - probably a good hour and a half worth of crap. I'm working on a 5-minute version for easy download and watchability. Sorry to make you sit through all that :???:
Track time... two 20-minute sessions (one car-control so not even tracking) and two 30-minute sessions.
Meeting with someone next weekend for a brake bleeding and fluid-changing lesson. We should have new pads by then too.

Actually.. the Ferodo 2500's... not nearly ready for the 3000's and the price difference.

What's up y'all!! Wow, can't believe that i've had my car for about 3 weeks and i already have 1350 miles on it. It's been a real blast driving the mini. I've been dubbed the official lunch driver at work since i got this car, and i don't mind one bit!
So here's my over due report:
1) I "heart" the HK system! It offers me enough sound and bass quality to get me groovin' while i'm driving. I'm not a stereophile, so the extra $500 was waaay worth it! I also got the AUX hook-up for my ipod and that's been extremely sweet, especially when i took phoenix to vegas last week. Derrick Carter never sounded so good....(ryan know's what's up!)
2) The sports seats are extremely comfortable. The 4 hour trip to vegas was no sweat. Back and butt where a-ok. Even my homie commented on how comfortable the seats were.
3) The supercharger rocks! I've never really felt power or torque in a car since i came from driving a crx, but feeling the surge of 163 horses when i drop into 5th at 90mph to pass a car on the open freeway is quite the thrill!! Ever since i passed the break-in period, i've really been revving in the higher rpms, and boy does it feel good not to be the slow car on the freeway.
4)Gas mileage is OK. I am hoping that it gets better w/ the more miles i put on. I only got 26-27 mpg on my trip to vegas. But that's standard i guess for a new S. I guess i'm just to spoiled w/ the 40-45 mpg i was getting w/ the crx.
5) This car is VERY smooth to drive. My friend also commented on how it didn't feel like we were doing 90 mph because the car seemed to just float down the road. The mini feels very stable and the suspension hugs the corners like no other. I also love the getrag shifting. I tried to drive my girlfriends Lancer (which i thought was a very smooth car before i got the mini) and it felt totally different. Like everything was soooo loose. I think i even stalled it once because the way the clutch felt.
Overall, i really love this car. It was well worth the wait!!! So far i haven't had any problems (knock on wood), but the only thing that bugs we is that i can hear the wind whisiling at high speeds. That's ok though, cuz i just turn the HK up..hahaha!
Ryan, nice choice for MM2!! You know you fell in love the Indy Blue...i sure did. Oh yeah, i also have some pics from delivery(only 2 cuz i delivered at night, and the lighting sucked)...is there any way i can email them to you so you can post them up on here and the CWFAC site? I'm a graphic designer and i don't much about the web...hahahaha...i'm not much on the programming. Ok well it's good to be back...but i got to get some rest.
Cheers!

great minds think alike
On to other things: I never realized how weird everything sounds when you rupture both eardrums... ah, well.. if you're going to get hurt at work, do a GOOD job of it, eh?
I can't hear the bass in the HK system!

great minds think alike....until Rachel goes and smokes her eardrums!
I got back in the Neon, and I was like "SUUUUUUCKKKK!" Squishy controls and numb everything, grrr. Now I'm even more anxious to get my MINI again!

>>Rachel, do tell--how did you blow up your ears??
>>
>>If you tell, maybe I'll share about the time I gave myself major 2nd degree burns with a deep fryer, or the time I sliced off the tip of my thumb on a slicer, or--maybe not--somewhat gruesome, that...
Rachel, frustrated.
>>Too bad your boss was not in the room with you Rachel!
>>
>>Sounds like a jerk.

I feel the same way... he's actually limiting the time that he spends alone in ANY room with me anyway.
... and he's never even seen me lose my temper. Maybe it's my almost-red hair clueing him in.
And what IS it with MCO lately? So many just plain weird things happening, all sorts of whining and just plain mean-ness.
At least it doesn't happen on this thread. It's safe here! (of course we all know it's becuse no one else would bother reading 126 pages of nattering... )

Is it a full-moon?
or perhaps all the non-Aprilites are a bit lacking in the get-some-lovin' department
seriously tho, although I think the general chaos of not knowing the possible doom of MCO lately has many a bit on-edge, I haven't noticed a dramatic change lately. The shift in aura has been more subtle over the past few months; but the result is the same
My average PPD was 11+ thru June, but now it's about 8.
la la la la la!
