R50/53 THE APRIL CLUB
Alright, I know I haven't had much to say around here for awhile, but I feel it's time to get the april club kickin' again. I think Ryan's news has rightfully bummed this club out, but hey, Ryan, you know we luv ya and it's time to move on!
....remember how we used to keep busy waiting for april with all those polls and votes?
Here's what I propose, an offical CWFAC vote for the color of Ryan's new MCS.
(And Ryan you have to go with the color we decide on
haha! just kidding, but at least you'll have our thoughts on the matter)
OK keep in mind all, Ryan said he was leaning towards red or black
but if it's gonna be an 04 my vote has to go for Pepper White!
Wouldn't it be cool if Ryan was the first person on this site with a PW MCS?
But out of your two choices I say Black, it just seems more fitting, especially with the mourning and memory of mr. motor.

Pepper White w/ Black Top 04 MCS is my vote for Ryan's new ride..
And no suspension mods for 12,000 miles.
Got my MINI tinted today at 35% black ("sputtered" metal in the high end 3M material). Can't use the windows for three days so I put tape over the toggles.
Looks great! Before my PS/B was invisible, but now folks are staring at the car.
You can see into the car pretty easily, so I don't think I will be harrassed much in NY.
Regards,
Red the Tint

oooh, Red, I want to see pictures of your tinted MINI
-->Katie: awesome idea on resurrecting the polls. My color choice is still very much in the air, but I've been leaning towards red/white until I remembered how much I loved my blue/white...now I'm just confused
There are so many awesome color combo's, it's really difficult to pick!
Cheers,
Ryan

Sorry to hear about the car ryan! That totally sucks w/ all the mods you put on MR. Motor. I think the Pepper White MCS would be dope as well.
But on to some good news. Phoenix is FINALLY in!!!!! WOOOOHOOOOO!! My MA called me on Saturday, but for some reason, my cell didn't leave the message. I decided to check the OL site to see if my car still showed "en route" cuz all the other guys on his boat had already received there cars, and there it was: AT YOUR MINI DEALER!! I made it out of VDC!! Thank the lord! I immediately called up my MA and said that we should set up a meeting so i can pick my baby up. So it looks like this tuesday is going to be my first day of motoring!!
I'll for sure get some pics up! Thanks again for all your support!
Cheers,
Jeremy

Hi all,
It's great to see the April club back on page 1.
Ryan, go with blue and white if you want. I think int's a great combo. One of my final choices.
Took Pyro camping for the first time this weekend.. We got all the stuff we needed in the boot with the seats folded down. It was over 110 at Don Pedro lake where we went with friends. Way to hot. The only way to survive was floating in the lake, or taking long mini rides through the hills with the AC on.
Got my first ding on the car also. Something hit the front corner of the bonnet stripe and left two little dents, and scraped the black off the stripe leaving the corner white. I will post pics later. I guess it had to happen sometime.
Got a new green twister CAI that is going on tomorrow.
Later,
Andy

Andy, ouch! Those dents look painfull indeed.
I hope you find an awesome body shop that can smooth those out with minimal filler (filler is BAD, BAD, BAD!)
I saw a DS/W MCS today, it made me sad not to have Mr.Motor

I just got back from a trip to DC in Poly. I drove down there to drop some friends off(4 people in a mini with three very large bags! It was pure madness!) but the drive back to NY was my first ever solomente road trip( more info here )! It was great, I took some scenic roads up through Maryland (Queen Ann's Country!) and it was really amazing just to be all alone in the middle of nowhere with the MINI. I have to say, my harmon kardon system really really increases the enjoyment of motoring. Anyway just thought I'd share my little story!
Thanx for sharing Katie, sounded fun
-->how do you guys like my latest sig? "Mr.Motor is bent outta shape"? I thought the irony of the twisted uni-body was too much to leave out

so is it time to confess that I'm at the point of almost needing new tires? I've got 5,000 miles on my car. Yes, tires are going to be rotated yet again this weekend, but DANG... I thought the yokos would last longer than this - at least 15,000 miles!
I think I'm going to have to blame it on the track and my boyfriend's driving habits. He LOFFS the handling of the car and finds an awful lot of on and offramps. Can't blame him, really, since I don't have that sort of commute every day (I usually take public transportation).
I'll probably get another track event out of those tires and then get something else. Anyone heard anything decent about other tires out there? I'd rather not spend more than, say, $120 a tire and I want it to handle well in the rain as well. The S-03s are a bit pricey; I've heard great things about the Eagle F1's (boyfriend is running those but having some issues with the quality). What about the Kumho MX's? Still looking to see what's in my size.
-->Ryan, get whatever color makes you drool the most.

Does not look like you lost much paint Andy. Can they get under the panel to push those dings out? (paintless repair?)
Ryan, until I get a new digital camera, can't post new pics of the tint....but the car looks great. Just having "rainbow" vision problems when combined with polarized glasses (see post in Ext/Int Mods).
Rachel, I think it is GREAT that you are wearing out your tires! We did not buy a little economy car here! Sounds like you are having FUN!

Red

Finally picked up Phoenix tonight and what can i say except: DAMN!!! what an addicting car! The paperwork at Irvine mini was really hassle free and was out of there in about an hour. Then the fun began: My house is about 20 minutes from the dealership, so i literally went to friends houses to ask if they wanted to drive anywhere, just so i didn't have to go home! So far everything is how i dreamed it would be. I still need more time to really experiment w/ everything this car has to offer (geez, it's only my first night!) Ok, i need to go to sleep now....can't wait to wake up and "motor" to work!
Cheers,
Jeremy

>>Damn Rachel 5,000 miles! I'm so jelous! Poly's only got 36 something, I wish I could drive her more often, but living in a big city, sometimes I go day's without needing her
Well, see.. *I* don't drive my precious much, if at all, during the week. Last year with the Probe, I put less than 6000 miles on it. My boyfriend has been stealing my car a LOT, especially when his has been killed during various upgrades. *sigh*. So I can't even really claim to have put on even half of those miles myself. I'm pretty sure that it'll even out over the winter since my car isn't quite the same snow car as the Audi. Another half ton and two drive wheels DOES make a difference, even with snow tires. Heh.
One more big trip for the summer: Watkins Glen. Mmm.....
Maybe I'll leave work early today and go play with my car. If it's still there...hm...

Wow! The April Club has set a page views record that may NEVER be beat.
Big Announcement for April Club Members:
There's only 10 spaces left for The Greatest MINI Event Ever! And that's out of a possible 50. My birthday's in April, so I want to entice some of the April Club members into our little gig.
C'mon, April Clubbers - here's an event made for you! Don't be shy!

Just hit 2000 miles last night. Do I have the low mileage car in the CWFAC?
Have not taken a real trip in the car, just motoring around, and have a company car I have to use a lot, so it's not that bad. But it looks like I am trending to maybe 6000 miles a year.
I have not even driven it in the rain yet!
Better get up and go for a ride.

Red

I'm at 4300 since April 11 and loving every mile
I can get my two little dents done from a paintles dent remover shop for $85.00. The guys in the shop next door do window tints and they are going to do my stripe. Maybe I should tint the windows while I'm there.
