R50/53 What paint for BBS?
What paint for BBS?
I have these BBS wheels from my 2004 MC40 and I need some touch up paint and would like to know what worked the best for you other than taking the wheel to a professional to redo?
I wanted to download image but its not working but I think most people know the wheels I am talking about.

Yeah, that was an mc40 only color. Have you checked/read thru the mc40 owners thread?
I skimmed it once and it had lots of interesting details and some devoted originality detailed owners posts about special aspects like that.
perhaps someone has found a touch up paint.

The color is anthracite, and although standard on MC40’s, they were an option for any 1st gen. My ‘05 came from the factory with anthracite R90’s. The back of the wheel centers also have part numbers for both 6755813 silver and 6768580 grey versions, along with sizing and BBS RS844.
For silver, I believe Wurth silver wheel paint is a close match, but I’ve never seen anything posted about the anthracite paint. Maybe the Tesla color that was found to match the anthracite interior trim is close.

Good data, being a color option might also explain why my 05 has anthracite S-Lights.
shame they are so dang heavy because they really are the best looking wheel ever put on a mini!
They make my sons r98s look small/like 16s, despite actually being the same 17” size.
sorry OP for getting off-topic.
the only other idea I would have is a local paint store, and have them use the color match scanner to make you up a batch of touch up paint?

Don't need a spray can as the wheels just need spots touched up along the edge next to the the aluminum ring, But if they can make me a very close match only in a spray can I will take it and make it work.
Thanks

With the option to purchase a can of the Tesla Steel Gray Metallic (PMNG) may allow you to despense/spray a small amount of paint into a container, let it sit for a few minutes until a fair amount of the solvent has dissapated and with a fine artist brush proceed with spot touch ups. More than likely you will not pick up or even notice any metal flakes. That is to suggest that the kicks and scratches aren't too large.
A 12oz can runs around $32 shipped. A bit pricey just to test but perhaps a 4oz bottle touch up might be a better approach?
just a thought.

I ordered my Tesla SGM aerosol paint from automotivetouchup.com (aka: micro finish inc).
Although I have not looked to see if they sell / offer it in bottles of brushable touch up like most auto color companies sell.
