Was in a accident today in my MCS :o(

Im so Sad and pissed because people that drive hondas dont know how to drive at all. Somebody went to far to make left turn and a light and was half way in my lane.....so they backed up and I go into the right lane to get by them and WHAM! I get hit in the left rear wheel and get sent up onto the median strip which ripped the front of my car off because it's lowered. Busted the radiator and god know what else. I guess he thought it was ok to drive forward after backing up when he saw me the first time. Anyways im ok but my car isnt . Its not that bad but its just still sad because its such and nice car and there was absoulutely no body damage on it til now. And I will try to post pic as soon as i can get some.

Matt

Sorry man-It sucks, I know how it feels. I had my car perfectly spotless-not a scratch! The interior was perfect, the day before I had given it is first waxing and gone to my first BMWCCA club meeting. Medication failed, passed out, hit a tree stump a 15mph. car was totaled. It sucks, I know, sometimes you get attached to them, but if you have the opportunity, its the chance to go for an 05.

I honestly think you totalled it-I hit the stump at an est 15mph and (albeit the car went over it) the car had severe frame damage I was told. These cars are safe, but break easily. Im sure your frame can be repaired, but it will take a good body man to do it. (as with me, if I ever find that car again and have nothing to do I will have try and get it fixed.) Good luck.

ps-I did see a forum on which was better-the M3 or the MINI, think it was on motoringfile.

Well I spoke with their insurance company....they say they are covering all repairs and giving me a rental car. The car is on it was to the dealer today so their adjuster can look over it. If its totalled I will be pissed .

Terrible news I was doing a search for your car just last night so I could oogle your wheels. Good to hear you're ok (even though the car may not be). I agree entirely with mcswrks - the cars are safe, but the damage, while it may not appear to be that much, adds up quickly. Thankfullly the person inside is almost always safe... but you lose a MINI in the process. Best of luck with the insurance repair/settlement process.

...I feel the exact same way about my totaled MINI. I have a replacement now, but still search Ebay every now and then waiting for it to show up. If I ever see it for sale, I'm buying it as a project car.

About how long does it usualy take the car to reach ebay, asuming it will end up there? Mine was totalled halloween of this year, oct 31. We had the car checked for a couple of days to make sure, but then AIG finally got it. I know the insurance auctions the car off-it was in perfect condition, inside and out. How long do you think before it would re appear?

I don't know if all totaled cars make it to Ebay or not. In my search for the selling price of similarily equipped 03s (gotta prepare yourself for the insurance fight... just in case) I came across a totaled S that was for sale in Michigan. My hope was that the same yard might pick up my Cooper (being in Michigan as well) and put it up for sale on Ebay. Its a long shot.. but I check back on the off chance it may show up eventually. Accident was Sept 12th and I still haven't seen anything.

If the car is a total, then definatley grab all your stuff. My insurance company was pretty strict about 'replacing' things, not just taking them. i.e. got the clear taillights but stocks went back... but I grabbed all the small aftermarket stuff (Whalen, euro shelf/aux input, mats, etc.) and the owners manual and original window sticker ( ). What I really wanted to keep was the key, but that was a no go.

wheelmax.com is my second internet home... I stare at the E2s waiting for winter to end and the Dragon to come.

So sorry about your accident, DrkSlvrMini. Good to read that you are okay, though.

I'm moving this thread from OFF TOPIC to MINI TALK.

Wow - too bad. That really sucks! I've read and enjoyed so many of your posts. Makes me feel especially sad - like it happened to a "friend." Good luck on getting your car fixed or replaced to your complete satisfaction.

(As a side note - when some little b*st*rd stole the CD player out of my Caravan last year, I was really bummed. I decided that the only way to make myself feel better, was to replace it with a better stereo. This things can have a silver lining!)

Hope yours works out okay...

All you guys and gals are so nice! Like i had metioned before i went to the dealer yesterday to get my personals out of the car and i took pics with my buddys camera phone. IM goin to try to get him to email them to me today. My back was hurting yesterday and im waiting to go to the doctors to have it looked at. Im soo mad and upset I woke up today thinking I was goin to wash it today and realized it wasnt out there . THis is really goin to stink because i was talkin to my buddies girl friend and she was sayin that they cant see me in another car, that the mini just became my image . But anyways once i find out the estimate ill will end up posting it and letting you all know because im pretty sure most of you are curious to find out. Thanks again everybody .

Glad to hear you are OK, remember that your life and health is more important than the car. It is sad to wake up the next day not to find your car in front of you driveway, but it is even sadder to wake up the next day on a hospital bed all banged up, take your pick. Your MINI did its job in protecting you, but as with any material object, it can easily be replaced for a new one (I know, however, we MINI owners tend to get very emotionally attached to our beautiful cars) .

Pray and hope that your insurance company totals your car. The last thing you ever want is to drive around in a car that has sustain severe frame damage (This type of damage absolutely KILLS the resale value of your car, not to mention any trained used car appraisers will still find out about it, even after it has been "properly" repaired) and other problems arising from the accident and subsequent body shop repairs. 10 years ago I went though a similar situation with an Acura Integra and the headaches caused by the damaged frame (I almost could not unload the car) abd the lousy bodyshop repairs (In spite of using brand new OEM Acura parts) are NOT WORTH IT! Let go of the car, you'll be much better off in the end.

The '05 MCS feature better powertrain performance over the '02-'04s, something for you to look forward to.

Best of luck.
