Today I said goodbye to my 2012 Countryman. I really liked the car and had no mechanical issues in my 3 years of ownership. So it's not like I got rid of it because of anything negative but I could pass this new car up!
I traded my CM in for a 2014 Highgate convertible and I'm just beyond happy! Before my CM I had a MINI convertible and thought I wanted something different. However during my 3 yrs with this car in the back of my mind I kept missing having a convertible. Last week I took my car in to get some warranty repairs done because my warranty had less than 200 miles left on it. While waiting I was walking through the pre-owned lot and saw the Highgate. After a lot of back and forth I finally got the Highgate's price down and today I drove off the lot in it . I'm so excited this car is pretty much loaded and only had 405 miles on it it has features I would never pay for and others I've wanted but were out of my price range.
Before I left I made sure to take every little bit of extra pizzazz I'd added to the CM. I'll sell some of it cuz it won't fit on the convertible but I took back my blackjack valve stem caps, short antenna, blackjack mirror caps, and rear view cover. I also took my aftermarket amp and subwoofer! The only customizations I left were the stripes and the pink side scuttles (they were so hard to install so not worth the hassle to remove).
I kept my plates but JMBO MNI doesn't seem to suit my new MINI
Thanks everyone! I'm just pinching myself that I have this Highgate and that it has so many options. It's seriously insane...I always build MINIs online but in reality I've got a budget and don't get nearly as many features and upgrades. My last 2 MINIs were new and honestly it was just luck or fate that while waiting for my car to be repaired that I walked through the pre-owned lot and saw this beauty. It's a 2014 and it only had 405 miles on it still smelled new and the floor mats were still in plastic. I thought it was a good price but for the 1st time I really stuck to my guns while negotiating and after all was said and done I saved $10k off the new price of this car!
What I love about the Highgate is color of the leather interior. I love the dark toffee and blue piped seats. I also love the convertible tops silvery metallic threads. I think over time it won't show wear like a black top does!
I'm still getting used to being back in a mini MINI. I didn't realize how much stuff I had crammed into my Countryman's boot. I also smashed my hand into the rear quarter panel trying to "open" the back door to get my purse. I really did like my CM and had no intention of getting a new car but I just could in pass this one up.
Going back to the dealer this Tuesday and I'm going to get my Highgate bonnet stripes installed.
Can't believe I've bought a 3rd MINI. I've been officially driving a MINI for 10 years now. I briefly flirted with the idea of getting a Jeep Wrangler but I just don't think I can stomach the gas prices.
They gave me a CM loaner and I can honestly say I didn't miss it compared to my car.
