Good show - they have done some interesting things in the past. Thanks for the reminder - I printed out your post and stuck it to my forehead so I wouldn't forget.

This was BY FAR, the WORST tv program to ever have a Mini in it. It's even worse than the time BBC top gear gave the car a bad review.

Not only were the mechanics CLUELESS, but they started to criticize the car because THEY didnt know how to take it apart.

This show was full of flasehood, inaccurate info and lies. Lies, I tell you.

Mechanic wannabes. I just wanna take that compressed air powered drill, put it up his ar$e and pull the trigger.

I loved the shot of one of the guys on the road course with both hands together at 9 O'clock pulling the steering in a tight left hand turn.

Great driving technique

Ah yes...with the Turbo Twit brothers. I remember them from some other lame show on Speed. "This is a brake drum. When the pedal is pressed the two things here call wheel cylinders expand the pads." I was screaming at the TV at that point. Was this the first time either of them had touched a car? This show was up there with Tuner Transformation and Pimp My Ride.

I watched it and then e-mailed History Channel with a few comments.

Before I watched this show I did know that I could double the power by switching from a 1 barrel carb to a 2 barrel carb. Now that I know this, maybe I'll remove the twin SUs from my MGA and stick on a Holley 4 barrel.

The Hitler Channel needs to stick with WWII documentaries - what they know best.

Pimp my ride? Thats a great show, just to see what they can do with that trash. I want to do one with local Plastic Surgeons: Pimp my Bride!!

They are up fromt and don't make more of themselves like some of the other shows.

It was very entertaining despite the overt jabs at "english" cars and their idiosyncrosies They were acting as if this car came from outter space. I mean...mechanics complaining about tight spaces...give me a break. That part about the "rubber welded to steel"...HUH???? Are these guys only used to working on Detroit irons with enough room under the hood for three motors. These guys obviously never worked on Hondas, go-karts, or RC cars Oh the driving was the best part

If those guys actually ever worked on minis before, it might have helped!!!!!!

and, if they really knew how to drive a mini on a race track, that might have helped, too!~ lame, too true.

Whether the two people hosting the show were filmier with Minis is irrelevant or even if they know car or even morons.

How many of you who are making derogatory statements have owned a classic mini. I’ve owned two, a 64 and 67. A whole lot of crap goes on in there.

If you didn’t like the show why didn’t you turn it off – easy as the flipper goes? Don’t b!tch here because your finger is broke. – You must have liked something or else you wouldn’t have watched the entire show.

As far as the performance in HP stuff goes maybe some, but not 50 percent, I don’t think so.

Bottom line is it was a good show about the history of the Mini and if you didn’t like the rebuild part of it, all I can say is poo on you.

It’s just a show people. Is TV your bible of the truth. If it is get a life!!!

Or at least get out and motor.

Why cant people trash the show if they didnt like it? .... I hated the show. I didnt change the channel because I really wanted to see them on the track. I would never watch this show again, and I will never reccommend the show to anyone. It's false. And hosted by morons.

And yes, I have Minis. So I know when the hosts talk out of their ar$es. In fact I could of had one of my minis on the show, and I'm so glad I decided not to.

As for TV being the bible of truth, check out a show called "The First 48". Thats some good shieet right there.... if you can handle the truth.

I thought it was a right good show: to see how four gearheads used to much bigger cars deal with the European Car of the Century. The historic snippets touched on much more than other shows on the Mini i've seen, for example, how Issigonis was a loner who loved smoking and silence, hence an ashtray but no radio in the original car. The track segments were pedestrian, yet well done. My boy loved it!

Lighten up guys, it's just a TV show that some liked and others despised, for whatever reason. Jimbo

So you are telling us you could have had a rusted out classic Mini you own be rebuilt to a higher performance standard than it is sitting where ever it is now and you said - Oh my I wouldn't want that - those two are clueless.

No, they wanted some Minis on the track, driving around. ANd for the record, I've got a very sweet 63 S that will smoke whatever Mini you have, and I can safely say that without seeing yours.

Confirmed. From their website:

from The History Channel

Mini Cooper.
Airs on Saturday, February 5 at 5:00pm ET

"The Little Car That Could", the 1978 English Mini becomes a road racer with a new suspension, braking system, and engine upgrades. Fasten your seatbelts for a wild ride as we head to the drag strip in revamped vintage cars. Part reality show, part history, we give two teams the same model of car in similar disrepair, garages, tools, and parts, and just two days to prepare before competing in an all-or-nothing drag race--and in this episode, on a road track with English-style right-hand drive cars! The winner drives away in both cars; the loser walks away empty-handed; the viewer gets an adrenaline dose of automotive history. TVPG
I note that there is also a VHS tape of the program available from their store.

Thanks for the tip!

I absolutely loved watching and learning so much about this classic car. Did you all know the Mini's suspension was a pre-requisite to what the Formula 1 cars use now (the TV show said). The way it works is very interesting. No shocks and springs, at least not as we know them -- to make more room for the passengers. But handling is a dream. I wish the History Channel had the show in DVD, but alas just in VHS. I'll wait and hope for a DVD later. What a fun show!

The history portion of the show was good.

The build portion was just what it was - two teams of two that did not really care for Minis.

The technical parts were terrible - downright inaccurate.

True, one can easily say, "if you don't like it, turn it off". I don't watch "Tuner Transformation" or "Pimp my Ride" because the hosts and guests are idiots but I like "Overhaulin" because Chip Foos is a cool dude. I expected more from the History Channel and think I'm fully within my rights to comment on "Full Throttle".
