I loved the show. It took four typical American muscle heads with preconceived notions and about the Mini and opened their eyes to the fact that a 450hp Ford Mustang is not necessarily the quickest way to get from point A to point B. It also educated many people about the Mini in regards to its origin and race history.

The two-barrel Weber and LCB exhaust manifold won’t double the HP - so that was inaccurate. But from my personal experience it does add a ton of usable power where it is needed! The Cooper S disk brake upgrade from twin leading drums is also like night and day.

The guys were not race car drivers by any means. But that was the point of the show, wasn’t it? Average guys getting hold of a couple of Minis, which they know nothing about, and having a little competitive fun. I find this much more entertaining that watching experienced mechanics and drivers.

Having restored and maintained several classic Minis and British cars throughout the years, the rust situation and fact that they discovered the way to disassemble a Mini may not make much sense was quite humorous to me.

I drove my classic to work Friday and had two people make comments like - “that’s one of the racecars from TV the other day!” I much prefer that to, “how many clowns fit in that car?”

Why cant people trash the show if they didnt like it? .... I hated the show. I didnt change the channel because I really wanted to see them on the track. I would never watch this show again, and I will never reccommend the show to anyone. It's false. And hosted by morons.

And yes, I have Minis. So I know when the hosts talk out of their ar$es. In fact I could of had one of my minis on the show, and I'm so glad I decided not to.

As for TV being the bible of truth, check out a show called "The First 48". Thats some good shieet right there.... if you can handle the truth.
None of these shows are entirely truthful, after all its just "entertainment".

I thought the show did present a decent and concise history of Minis and that will benefit the classics in the long run. Overall it praised the classic and that's a good thing. (despite some inaccuracies) The hosts are more knowledgeable (supposedly) about Hondas than anything else. They were totally clueless on the primitive mechanics of the Mini. Had to chuckle at their ineptness.

I enjoyed the complete dismay with which these selected "mechanics" viewed the Mini. Befuddled, confused, ignorant....but funny. You just had to laugh. Or can't you remember your first experiences with disassembling a Mini. We were all there once.

The comment about getting the 11mm wrench for the bonnet was funny (yes its the same as 7/16", but I don't think they knew that). Also trying to install the header from below And then they didn't loosen the dogbone to rock the engine forward for clearance. I think they installed the 32mm DGV because none of them knew what the hell to do with an SU (or else they would have replaced it with a larger SU, or twins)

And, yeah, they did all those mods in 10 hours, riiiiiiiighhhht! Disc brake conversion, negative camber, adj tie rods, header, carb, tune-up, exhaust, roll bar, etc. As if out of two Minis one wouldn't have some issues with bleeding the dang brakes....

It was nice to see Graham Reid of Heritage Garage guiding them. I bet he was called in after they began... to salvage the episode.....

According to Graham, he was. I wish they would have let Graham do a little lap to show them how it's done, though!
