This past winter I bought new 15” wheels with Blizzak tires then in the spring when I took them off to put the 17” back on I also upgraded to the R56 front brakes. Will the 15” wheels fit over them?

They might fit over R56 brakes (280mm rotors plus bigger pads vs 276mm R53 rotors), but probably not over R56 S brakes (same R56 caliper and pads but with 294mm rotors). It could also depend on the specific wheels you are trying to fit or the placement of the wheel weights as the shape/profile of the barrels vary in design.

Which brakes did you put on, R56 S or Regular?

I told them “S” but they looked the same size as the 53 rotors?

16” rims are tight over the R56 S brakes, I can’t imagine trying to clear with 15” wheels….

X-lites are one of the rare oem 16" that fits over the R56 brakes, pretty sure 15 won't clear.

Guess I’ll switch the brakes back before winter then.

The 16" R87 winter wheel also barely fits over R53 JCW brakes

I've seen SOME 15" rims fit over R56 brakes, but it takes some work. You either have to grind the caliper, or run massive spacers.

X-lites are 16". I have a set used previously for winter duty, and they are close to the calipers - maybe 5mm clearance.

o I'm sorry your rite . Buuuuut he runs a winter tires 15 that's an oem mini rim too and it fits also buuuuut like you said on those, his calipers clearanced them selves by grinding out abit of the rim.

I have seen a set of 15x8’s on a 11 R56s, he ran 5mm spacer on all 4 corners.

He was melting his wheel weights off, so he aluminum taped them to help. Just something to watch for.

Choices are limited on 15 inch aftermarket wheels that will clear the R56 S front brake calipers. I did quite a bit of research before finding stuff that would work for me.

I have two different sets of 15x8 for my 2006 JCW which runs R56 S front brake calipers. No rubbing anywhere on either set under heavy suspension loads.

15x8 949 Racing 6UL with 225/45R15 tires - needs 5mm spacer in the rear to clear lower strut bolt on the trailing arm. I run a 5mm spacers in front too although they're not needed.

I also have a set of Konig Dekagrams. I run 15x9 in the front with 245/40R15 tires with 13 mm spacer to clear the Koni strut. I run 15x8 with 225/45R15 and 5mm in the back to clear lower strut bolt on the trailing arm
