OK, I figured it's time to start the next round of tracking threads. Who else is in? I've got what looks like an estimate of 3rd week production. Question for all you who have bought second MINI's: How do you track a second car? Being that my owner's lounge account is already set up, I do not see any sort of option to track anything. Do you need a seperate account for each car?

It's funny, i forgot how exciting it was to follow the progress of the car. Now that I have a new car on order, it's bringing back all the memories of anticipating the first one!

 

I'm in for a week #1 build 2005 MINI. Here are my specs:

This is my THIRD 2005 MCS (not really by choice) and so I can tell you first hand that you have to create a new Owner's Lounge account for each new MINI (in order to track it). I simply stuck with my original user name and then just added a 2 and a 3 onto the end of it for the additional cars.

 

My MCS will be produced the second week of '05.

You're probably right, (and I would be very confused if they weren't!) When did you order you're MCS? I ordered mine on Nov. 9 and Amy told me that 1 person was in front of me for the LSD

I had talked to Amy in October, but she couldn't order it until she received her allocation. I placed my order on November 6th.

I had talked to her in JULY! When I asked her about the LSD she looked at me like I had 3 heads. Apparently, I was first one to ask anything about it and I guess that the question that early caught her a bit off-guard. I think maybe a chick asking her about performance stuff was a bit of a surprise too, but considering we pulled up in an EVO, she wasn't too surprised.

You don't have to create new accounts for new MINI's. I currently added my 05' order to my current account in the Owners Lounge. If you notice there's a pull down on the website to pick which car your want information on. I would walk everybody through the process but the MINIUSA website isn't coming up here at work for some reason.....

I just got a print out from my dealer tonight and it says that my January build MCS (with LSD, Convenience Pack, etc.) started production TODAY! I even have a VIN now too...

The printout states that the car is currently at status 150 (Production started) as of 12/20/2004. It also shows a confirmed production date of 2005/01/01 and an Estimated Production Date of 1/9/05. Weird.

BTW, here are all of the status values shown on the printout:

150 Production started
151 Entry body shop/serial # assgn.
152 Entry paint shop
153 Entry assembly
154 Assembly
155 Assembly finish/quality check

Looks like the January build cars are already starting to roll!

 

Does your owner's lounge show this info yet? Just curious as to whether some of our cars are being built, but we still think they are ON ORDER

 

No, it sure doesn't... My OL still says "On Order", and when I call the automated ASK-MINI phone number the voice tells me that my vehicle is "scheduled for production with no confirmed production date yet". Thus, I'm sure that others out there with early January production dates have also now begun production.

BTW, your MA has access to a detailed "Vehicle Inquiry" program (which is where my printout came from). The program shows the MA a breakdown of the vehicle's production status (including status codes and production dates and times), etc. It even includes a "Design/MSRP" list that breaks down your order spec item-by-item showing all of the order codes, description, and MSRP for each item you've ordered. It's kind of cool and I wish that my MA would have given me a printout for my 1st car (it even shows a "priority status" for the vehicle - my priority status reads: 1-Customer "sold").

It's funny as my "Design/MSRP" list properly shows the Sport Package as containing the 17" Web-Spoke wheels that I ordered, but it still shows the old MSRP of $1,350 for the package (it should be $1,850 with the web-spokes). However, my MA said that one of his other customer's printout showed the proper price of $1,850 for the Sport Package (with the web-spokes), but it also included a separate $1,100 individual charge for the web-spokes as well. Ouch! Thus, it looks like MINI is still working out the details on the dealer's order/tracking program when it comes to the new 01/05 changes.

Now all we need is for MINI to instate the really cool production video feature for our cars so that we can see some video of them being built (I was one of the "test" subjects for my other car which was built on 11/09/2004 and the video was really cool!).



EDIT (12/21/2004): Strike that! I just called the automated ASK-MINI number again and the voice now says that my vehicle is scheduled for production with an estimated completion date of January 9th, 2005.

 

Yeahhh!!11! I just called ASK MINI and my car is in production too! With a scheduled completion date of January 11th. I am a bit confused though as to how it can IN production (I even called back to make sure that's what it said) but it won't be completed until 1/11. Oh well, it's finally getting started!

 

ROCK ON!!! I am also at 150 status according to ASK MINI!!! The car moved into this status yesterday and is due to be completed 01/11/05.

That's because it takes two weeks (or more) to actually create the cars from scratch. I believe that the final assembly is all done in one day (i.e. your estimated completion date), but it takes more time than that to build the body, move it through the paint shop, etc.

Take the automated "Vehicle Production Status" option and tell it your production number to get your vehicle's current status (or you can talk to a live person for even more up-to-date info). However, your MA will know the most detail on the status of your car by looking in his/her computer.

 

Just checked with ASK MiNI and sure enough Jan 11 was the reply . Can't wait for the heated seats ....
