Should have done what I did. Ordered Mini (MCS) from Oklahoma City dealer (Jackie Cooper Mini) Jan 8th. Car Built by Jan 23rd. At port on 25th
waiting for the Ship (Don Juan) to leave for Charleston on Jan 28th.
Arrives Charleston on Feb 9th. Arrive at dealer maybe a week or two after that? I fly from San francisco Bay area on "Free" frequent flyer miles to
Oklahoma City to pick up car. Drive to Denver from Webb Motorsports
Modifications, Header,Exhaust, Pulley,Intake, H-sport Rear Sway bar,springs,
and Rear camber arms and Front Camber plates. Visit relatives in
Denver waiting for the work to be done. (1 Day) Then drive back to
San Francisco area dodging winter storms.

It is showing an arrival date to NY on 02/05.
I just checked using the Don Juan "Booking Number" at the WW website
and see 410 Mini VIN numbers that are booked on the Don Juan.
All booked in at the port from 1/19 to 1/27/05. Could that be right? 410
Minis' on a single ship???
Interesting!

Hmmm, my car is on the Jingu Maru, but I think it set sail on the 19th (but won't get to Charleston until the 4th ) You might be on different ship that doesn't make 3 stops between SH and SC . I hope you find your MINI soon!

PDX is in the house

Looks like there are few Oregonians with new MINI's on the way. Can't wait to start motoring with fellow enthusiasts.

Nah, don't want to drive that far this time of year with the various weather conditions in the new car (and don't have the time anyway). Sounds like enjoyable trip and fun mods for you, but for me I always break in and feel out a new vehicle before making fundamental changes to it. Lastly, I like to have the shop that does the work relatively close by, it has helped me in the past when I needed tweaking/or warranty work done to the installed mods after awhile. (Which makes me wonder, if you have a distant dealer install the JCW will the local one cover any issues since its under Mini warranty?)

Best of luck with it all - see you around SF

All,

Sean Bartnik has posted some really wonderful "real-life" pictures and did a great write-up of a lot of the new 01/01/05 (and later) changes made to the new MINIs (including the new weight sensitive air bags and "air bag" off light, low washer fluid warning light, etc.). It's very cool! If you haven't seen it yet, then you can check it out on his web site at:

Thanks Sean!

Emden

My BRG/B MCS was on the Emden which docked on the 26th. I just got an email from my MA saying that it is scheduled for delivery at the dealership on Feb 1st. I'll be able to pick it up on the 4th.

So much for being able to focus on work today. heh.

Jimj,

How did you get a list of VINs on the Don Juan? I am told that after waiting two weeks at the dock, my cabrio left Southampton on the 25th but no other info is available. Ask MINI told me that most of the vessels carrying MINIs to Port Hueneme are not WW but K-Line and NYK. Neither of these lines show schedules that have a Southampton - Port Hueneme connection.

JPIT,
To see all the MINIS' on the Ship (Don Juan) destined for Charleston:
Go to WW website http://www.2wglobal.com/www/wep/index.jsp
Click "Cargo Tracking"
Track By, Click on "Booking Number"
I put GBSOU292557 in the space provided.
And the whole list (412) Mini VIN numbers come up with "Loaded on
Vessel" or "Recieved at Terminal" times. More are loaded as the day goes on. Maybe you can't track the cars coming to the West Coast.
Different ships, difvferent tracking system maybe.
This Ship, the Don Juan can hold up to 6000 cars and trucks!
Who knows how many Minis' it could hold, maybe double that!
Good luck!
Jim J

am I on?

My car shows as "received at terminal" for Don Juan, and the EQ504-DOJ voyage. Does that mean it is on the boat that just sailed? Should it show another status beyond received at terminal?

Whowoo!

All you West Coasters out there who's MINIs were build around January 9th (which was my completion date), I just got word from my MA today that the boat is due into Port Hueneme on February 12th.

For both my other MINI's our MA was spot on with the arrival date and so I'd imagine that if someone wants to call NYK (or K-Line???) and ask them what the ship's name is that is scheduled to arrive in Port Hueneme (from South Hampton) on Feb 12th, then we'd be able to track it the rest of the way.

That puts my delivery date into the dealership at around February 14th to the 22nd. Awesome! I can't wait.

I keep checking but all is good....I probably won't say anything if goes badly . I was afraid my car would rust into nothing if it stayed at sea any longer. If you swim out could you get mine.

jimj,

Thanks for the info - that is pretty interesting. Where did you get the booking number?

Does anyone know what ship left Southhampton on 1/25 and arrives in Port Hueneme on 2/19?

Anybody have theirs yet!

The folks who had their car on the carmen should have the car or be really close. Carmen docked on the 21st and that give a week to go through VDC and get to the dealer. Come on... you gotta share if you got yours; dont be a hoarder and help the less fortunate

Jpit,
I got the Booking number from the same WW website:
http://www.2wglobal.com/www/wep/index.jsp
I clicked under "Cargo tracking" then "Auto cargo"
and put my VIN number in the slot and it came up with the Vessel name,
Booking and Voyage numbers.

Good Point! I see that you are in California - are you buying your MINI here on the East Coast, or does the ship continue on around to you on the west?

TheOfficeMaven,

I think I might be on the same ship. Do you know what day it left Southampton? I think mine left on the 20th or 21st.

So just got off the phone with my MA. He estimated that if the boat docks on the 29th, they should have the car within 4-5 days. So I figure a conservative estimate is they should have it by the 4-7th somewhere. I'm out of the country from the 1st through 10th..so either way I better be getting this car when I get back. My tan should look good against a CR backdrop. To bad its to cold for top-down motoring.
On the way out of the dealer I may have to give the heater and seats a workout though.

ohmab,
I wrecked (Totaled) my MCS dec 28th and needed a new one, QUICK, to
replace the wrecked one. We have to wait about 1 year out here on the
west coast to get one. Even with 4 Mini Dealers with in 20 Miles of my house! The Mini on the ship was ordered from Jackie Cooper Mini in
Oklahoma City at the beginning of Janurary. That's quick!
I'm driving my Dad's Ford Focus till the '05 Mini comes in. The Focus is
my punishment for wrecking my Mini!
"Once you have had a Mini there's no goin' back."
