R50/53 **JAN 2005 build official tracking thread**
My dealer tells me (after alot of prodding) that my MCS is due to be trucked to them on 02/11. They then gave me the usual "we'll need a few days to prep the car here" line. I may have to stalk the place this weekend
Have any of you received a package from MINI? When I ordered my car the dealer said that I should be getting a surprise package from the UK before my MINI came home but I haven't seen it, nor have I heard of anyone else getting one
Looks like ours docks in LA on the 12th-13th. I guess a few days there then on a truck to Portland? Any guesses if we will see it this month? 2/14/04 was our original order date. Long story that involves a change order. Getting close now.

I spoke to my MA yesterday to discuss what i would have to do to "hold" the car for a few days until i sell my current one. He said i should have more than enough time because my car may not leave the VDC because its awaiting a software update scheduled for the 13th(arrived at VDC in South Carolina on Feb 4th on the Jingu Maru).
For me it kind of works out, then he said they can hold it for a week or two. I can imagine if i were to give them a deposity they would hold it longer. Just afraid they may put it in the showroom and someone may like the spec and offer more than MSRP to get it imediately. I'll definitely go look at it the day it arrives if my car has sold by then.

My car came in on the same boat and got put on a carrier to the dealer yesterday. As for them selling your car, you already have a contract drawn up for you to buy it and unless you do something to void that contract, they can't sell it out from underneath you. As far as they're concerned, that car is already sold, at least that's how it is at my dealer. All of the cars waiting around for someone to pick them up have SOLD tags on them and folks looking around are allowed to sit in the car and look at it, but not drive it
