R50/53 **JAN 2005 build official tracking thread**
I may be the last of the January builds to get their car...
Mine was built on 1/28. Since I live in Denver, mine has to go to L.A. And then I must wait 2-3 weeks for shipment to CO. It sucks seeing everyone enjoying their MINI and I am weeks away.
Don't get me wrong, I am glad people are enjoying themselves, I am just jealous.
Please keep the comments about your new arrivals coming!

Too Wierd...
Just as i was writing my previous post, my salesperson, i mean MA, just sent me an email stating it arrived in LA today. i am now 2-3 weeks away.
The anticipation is building like a kid before christmas.

Hi All,
I just received word from our MA that my 01/09/05 built MCS is due into the dealership on the 26th.
Wow! That sure was a loooong wait. I was really starting to think that it got lost somewhere along the line!
I can't wait to see it!

I guess that it's possible you made it on the same ship as me, and if you did, you're a luckey one for sure (as you cut it super close with only a day to spare)! I've ordered three MINIs and all of them sat at least 10 days in S.H. before they got on a ship. I guess that I just can't catch a break.

I have also ordered 3 new MINIs and none of them have sat at the S.H. docks for more than 3-4 days, including the new one that left today. Received on 2/21 and departed today, 2/24.

My MCS came to the East Coast and it sat at S.H. for over a week for its boat. But he got here eventually and I used the extra wait as a lesson in patience for a person that never waits for anything

I'm so glad I waited. I went today and after seeing it for the first time I know the wait was worth it.
I picked up my '05 MCS Mini on Monday at Jackie Cooper Mini in
Oklahoma City, in stock form. And drove it directly to
Webb Motorsports in Denver. One day of surgery by Dr.Randy
Webb, to enhance the horsepower and handling a tad, then
drive it home, over the mountains, to the San Francisco area.
2000 miles! It's was a fun way to break in my new Mini.

Well it has been an interesting six weeks for my MCSC. It was completed on Jan. 13th and then sat on the dock for at least two weeks before catching a ride to the west coast, I think. It was suppose to leave on 1/26 and arrive in Port Hueneme on 2/19 but for some reason didn't make the ship. The MA said the new arrival date was 2/26 (today) and I assumed it was on the M/V Progress Ace. I just checked with ask MINI and they report that the cabrio is in Southampton waiting for transport. Don't know what to think any more.

Ironically I got the call today at 10:30am that it was just off the truck in socal while I was commuting back to norcal. I haven't been able to see the car yet in person until I have time next week to go back and pick it up.
I have a feeling that barring any (god forbid) damage occuring during transit that they have to fix at the VDC, your online status is a hiccup and it's on route to OR.

First Weekend Fun
[size=2]So I picked up my new MINI this weekend and had a blast. It has lived up to all of my expectations. I will post pictures tonight; I just haven't had time yet. I have put on a quick 500 miles in 3 days.
Now for the bad news. Somebody tapped the back bumper on Sunday Morning. Luckily, I know the culprit and they are going to pay for it, but man it ruined my day yesterday. You should have seen me. I was pretty melancholy for about 24 hours until I came to the realization that it is a car that is meant to be driven and the paint can be fixed. At least that is what I keep telling myself.

Lucky I guess....well unlucky. I already have to go get it painted. From the sound of it, there were at least two different boats used for the January builds. I just got on the first boat, which docked on the 15th and cars were delivered to Portland last Wednesday. My MA told me that besides the delivery on the 2/23, there were 2 more scheduled in the next couple of weeks from different boats that were all backed up.
Have fun when you get your MINI. I am off to go find out how much it is going to cost to repaint the rear bumper.
"it's just a car, it's just a car, it's just a car......"
