noisy compartment

sorry i couldn't find info on this topic anywhere on this site. here's the problem. my mini seems to be very noisy when i drive on the highway. i'm not talking about the engine. it's the wind noise. it's more noisy than most cars i've driven in. yes, i do have a moonroof. anyone? thanks.

I suppose a valid question would be: are most of the cars you've driven Lexus?

The MINI isn't LOUD, but it's not anechoic-chamber-quiet either. I'd put it on the louder side of the average boring sedan. Tires, and pavement make a big impact on how loud it is too.

Make sure your windows are going up all the way when you close the doors.

Thats what the volume control on the sound system is for
My MC is way noiser when the back seats are folded down, which in my case is 99.9999% of the time, those vents back there let alot of road noise in.But the Black Lab Navigator takes care of that by going into sleep mode in front of them

I find my 2005 MCS to be very quiet on the highway, with little or no wind noise. In fact, I am amazed by the lack of engine noise at speed. I expected more.

Which tires do you have? I have the all-season tires, but I would assume that the performance tires might be noisier.

Highway noise

Tires can make a big difference - When I switched from somewhat worn Michelins to Pirellie PZero Nero on my TT, Hwy cruise noise went down a lot. I have read here that the runflats are not quiet.

tires would be my guess. I've found my 04 MC to be Very quiet at 70+mph.

I find in my MC that it is not tire noise,or whistle from leaks, just road noise. The car itself is very noise free.I tend to drive, even on the highway ,with my window open,I like the fresh air,but all the noise I hear comes from the vents in the boot. When I button up the cockpit, turn off the sound system, shut off the interior fan,the car is very sound damped from the outside world.

My '04 MCS equipped with all season 16" runflats is extremely quiet and highway speeds. I don't have a sunroof.

The '02 Cooper CVT is also quiet but I have noticed that the '04s have much better road noise insulation compared to the '02s.

neither car exhibits any kind of wind noise which is amazing for such squared off design.

The MINI anin't a Lexus or a luxury car. This is a sports car.

After driving other cars, such as a Ford Focus, a Honda Civic, and a Suzuki Crapwagon, the MINI is VERY quiet on the freeway comparatively.
