XM Radio/Antenna Question
Greetings Folks,
I just purchased and picked up (finally) my 2007 Mini Cooper S Convertible. Not sure how I missed it but it has an XM antenna directly next to the stock antenna. I opened the glove compartment and there are a few extra wires. It appears someone installed this:
http://www.shopminiusa.com/PRODUCT/5...ATELLITE-RADIO
Or am I wrong?
My Mini has HK but I'm really curious how to tap into this XM (or I guess it is now Sirius). Any ideas?
Thanks for any guidance!
Love the Mini by the way...wife has one and now I do too. We're a Mini family!

Sorry for the delay...have been out enjoying the top down too much lately.
I am not sure about if I want to use SiriusXM. I was just curious IF I could tap into it.
Sorry these aren't the best. I can work on them if you'd like...let me know.
This one is located near the lower left side of the glove compartment...more so near the middle of the car behind the stereo.

The PO definitely had SiriusXM. Looks like s/he kept the module to use in another vehicle. Those antennas are a PITA to run the wire from the rear to the dash, so it probably wasn't worth the hassle to pull it as well. What's odd is that when it was pulled, they got behind the factory HU and unplugged the module, which is also a PITA.
I bought the kit that goes with a new HU that is "SiruisXM-Ready" (SXV300v1) so I only got their antenna and module, which plugs into the rear of the aftermarket HU. My kit is powered via the radio HU so I have no 12V power cable. And because you do have a 12V power cable...
I assume that your kit installs (with the missing module/tuner) into the factory HU AUX port, and that HU plays Sirius via the AUX select on the mode button. In other words, you'd probably need the full SiriusXM install kit to use. Good thing is the antenna is already wired-in.

You can just run a generic sat receiver and plug it in to the aux port. From the look of those wires i'd guess that's just what the PO did. Considering the length of the wires he may have just stuffed it in the glove box.
(They pretty much give you a basic reliever free if you agree to a year of service.)
That might be a pre-merger sirius-only antenna by the way.
