iPhone5 / Lightning adapter for OEM ipod interface

Hi, my daughters 2002 Mini (non S) has the OEM ipod interface.

It worked for her iphone 4. she was able to control the music via the sterring wheel controls.

When she got her iPhone 5, we tried various 4 (30 pin) to 5 (lightning) adapters, but none worked.

I tore into the glove box today and pulled out the interface module 65110406349 and the cable ( 65110393656 ) , hoping the cable would be connected via a USB cable, but it isn't. the cable has a round 8 pin mini din style connector.

I am surprised nobody makes a replacement cable with a lightning connector.

How has everyone else solved this problem?

I can't even find a pinout to make my own.

help.

Unfortunately the OEM ipod interface is pretty rudimentary.
If you want to keep it, best to just get a cheap ipod and leave it in the glovebox.

If it worked with the iPod 4 generation then it will work with the newer lightning generations.

You will need to get the Apple genuine 30 pin to lightning adapter that is the only one that will work because apple puts essentially hardware security in the form of an IC that only they sell.

The 3rd party ones will not work, at all!

Other option is to replace your factory iPod kit with a Grom kit which will get you additional features
