GP2 - passenger dash trim removal?! HOW?
Anyone (I know Way has...but he hasn't seen my email yet) know how to remove the piano black trim from over the glovebox?
The one where the secret compartment isnt.
ALL of the docu in the world only addresses the cars with the secret compartment - and even the early build threads (before the compartment was standard) seem to result in no one figuring out how to remove it.
Since it HAS to come off before the rest of the passenger dash can be disassembled...there's got to be a way in.
GP2 or early build success stories only please - I've disassembled dashes on a few hundred cars when I was doing the auto aftermarket as a career.
It's -possible- that it's just held on with some really tough spring clips, and if I have proof of that I'll figure out how to fab a tool to get behind it to tug it off....but I really dont want to start pulling hard just to find it's held on with screws.
I've been sitting on this project for almost a year now and got back to it this weekend - I'd been thinking "oh, I'll just drop the glovebox, reach up behind it...." except the glovebox top is integrated to the dash bod.....
Pictures of a removed trim would help!
thanks.

Ditto. Worked for me. It's held in place by two metal studs. After installing the secret compartment, I was able to carefully peel up the GP logo and stick it on to the new secret compartment lid.
