Oh ***** handles

Anyone have front grab handles for the passenger? After going through some twisty roads the wife is wanting something to hold on to. Cant be me😀. So either on the dash, like the old CJs, but with the airbag thats a no go. Or the area above the window has the ¿airbag?, so thats a nope. TiA

There is a passenger grab handle above the passenger door, is yours missing?

There are brackets under the headliner at all 4 positions for grab handles that also double as mounting base for roof racks on gen 1 cars.
Handles are available for about $1 at Pick & Pull. Measure mounting holes and you'll be amazed at how many non-MINI items will fit.

My 2004 R53 does not have a grab handle for the passenger. Maybe they were added as part of the 05-06 refresh?

I had my sagging headliner replaced for $300 recently. I was surprised it cost so little, but multiple shops gave me quotes around that price (if you have a sunroof it would be higher).

My co-pilot uses the near vertical grip in the door card when the twisties try to gang up on us.

Im gonna do the diy headliner as soon as i find the "right" pattern. Ill look to see if the mounts are under there, as stated above maybe it was on the facelift the added them. But good to know that they would he there for the roof rack.

Per realoem.com, there were only rear passenger grab handles up to build date 7/2004. After that both front and rear passengers had grab handles

Damn...4 months...mines 03/04. So...i guess the revamped question then is--anyone do 'aftermarket' grab handles on pre-facelift R53..
