2002 R53 Noise Issue

Hey there guys and gals,
Slight issue here,
Everytime I reach 2000 rpm my car makes a weird noise almost as of metal is touching, rubbing, or smacking.it happens in every gear not just first. It happens only in acceleration and never in deceleration. It happens only when the has all four wheels on the ground as well. I put the car on jack stands and gave it a go whilst lifted and the carcar made no noise at any rpm.
Has anyone occured a problem such as this?
Or have any insight?

Ooh. A good who-done-it.

Could you clarify if the noise happens at low rpms up to 2000 or just at a specific rpm (close to 2000)?

Does the engine being warmed up or cold matter?

What tranny do you have? Any mods? Any recent work?

For your jack stand test, did you put the car in gear so it was spinning the wheels?

What happens when you rev the engine in neutral with all 4 wheels on the ground?

Look at your engine mounts....
Free spinning tires on a jack shouldn't make the motor move with bad mounts...
But the tq when moving might...
ALSO WONDERING if the weights on the dual mass flywheel are loose...like the springs get unstuck, like the Chewbacca, but one broke...giving you the sound....longer shot..A WAG..
How many miles on the car? Any mods?

I was thinking engine mounts, too. Causing something to rub on one of the front axles? Should leave a mark on the axle.

It happens only at 2k rpm. Warm or cold same problem. And I have a 6spd mt. Alta cold air and heat shield are the only mods.

Check those engine mounts upper and lower first. Press on the engine on the passenger side, do you have allot of movement?

How many miles are on the car?

Is the crank pulley failing/failed?

Is it a "tinny metallic" sound or a metallic thud?
