Wheels fitment issue.

Hello all,

I recently bought a set of MB weapons from discount tire online. The problem is the OE lug bolts won't go through the holes on the wheels? I called the company and they're sending me tuner lugs, but will that work since the lug bolt itself won't fit through the holes at all?

So the oe bolts aren't long enough?

Your wheels are probably drilled for 12 mm lug bolts and Series two MINIs have 14 mm lug bolts. It sounds like Discount Tire sent you the wrong wheels, for a series one MINI.

It's not the bolts are long enough, it's the bolts are too thick. I think you may be right about my bolts being 14mm and the drill be for 12mm.

Also what about the conversion kit from a 14mm to 12mm lug stud? For regular daily driving use? Is it really frowned upon?

Do you have hub centering rings?

In that case I would expect the smaller lug conversion to be ok in normal driving. Way Motor Works, a respected MINI specialist, sells the kits for the purpose you are considering:

you should not need to do a stud conversion for new wheels that were specd to fit. They should replace the wheels with ones with correct holes. Do you have a local tire discouters shop? Have them look at it.
