I recently made a new discovery - a local Boston band called The Damn
Personals. Their newest CD has not left the tray in several days...
Those guys rock!

I've been on MCO for a few months now and I have not yet come across a music thread. Seeing that you guys talk about everything from politicts to Pop Tarts, there must be one out there, but I can't find anything. :???:

I just picked up my MINI and been having a great time driving it not only because it's a MINI, but because I love listning to music while driving it. If anyone has any favorite bands, artists, or types of music they like to hear while driving their MINI, I would love to know.

I can totally go on for hours on what I like to listen to, so I'll try to narrow it down to what my favorites are according to these conditions:

Mornings: Talk radio to get me ready for boredom and complaining at work. Usually Howard Stern.
Sunny Days: Flaming Lips, Sonic Youth, and Gravy Train!!!!
Dreary Days: The International Noise Conspiracy, Sigur Ros, and Coldplay
Nights: Kraftwerk and Depeche Mode. (Gives you the illusion that you're in a space station)

Anyone else want to share? Remember... guilty pleasures are fun too.

Thanks.

Here's one thread from a while ago, and here a HUGE ONE that was posted to as recently as May 15th.

Personally, my current favorites that live in my car are Iron and Wine, Social Distortion (I listen to Ball & Chain repeatedly, and I cannot stop), Billy Bragg & Wilco (their Woody Guthrie-lyrics album, called Mermaid Avenue), and Beatles Rubber Soul.

I am an enormous Flaming Lips fan as well. Soft Bulletin and Hit to Death in the Future Head. I've been trying to find a copy of "In a Priest Driven Ambulance" for YEARS.

And speaking of the Lips - how cool would it be to get a bunch of MINIs together to listen to Zaireeka (Flaming Lips album with each song split out onto four CDs, so that you play them all at the same time and get a surround-sound effect) with windows down?

Let's see, I changed the disks a few times since the last thread on this subject...

I have a couple of comp disks I made with everything from Foo Fighters to Motorhead, two CDs of the Best of Jethro Tull, Mark Weigle's All That Matters and The Truth Is, and a comp CD of my faves from the Hellecasters.

I also get CDs of radio airplay program "Flashback" which are fun for long trips.

There are also many occasions that I shut off the stereo and listen to the motor. That's a tune I never get tired of! w00t!

I've got the russian version of t.A.T.u.'s 200km/h in the Wrong Lane blasting away in the Coop right now. They really remind me of Mylene Farmer, for those that listen to French music. Hey, I like international pop, what can I say?

My favorites ever were:

Rush (been a while...)

Joe Satriani
Led Zeppelin
Any kind of 'in your face' fusion/funk/jazz (Rob Mullins Band)

Talk Radio (actual talk radio - keeps me awake on longer drives)
