water leaking from vent below antenna- HELP

I have a 2006 R50.... on the interior roof, just below the antenna is a bump out that looks like a vent. I have water dripping from THAT. I pulled the vent off, and found water collected.. but couldnt find the source of the leak.

Has anyone else had this problem????

Could it be leaking around the antenna base?

I think I found the problem

The rear drain hoses for the sunroof were clogged. Here is a picture of the vent I was referring to.

and THANK YOU for your reply.

Yep, those hoses clog or the rear top brake light gasket leaks

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...-2002-mcs.html

You are welcome. Have a great holiday.

Thats it. Check the front and the back once in a while and make sure they are connected and clean. Cleaning out the rain tray on the sunroof cassette helps down the road collecting in the drain hoses.

Do you have a diagram of the locations of all 4 drain hoses? I found the rear.. but cant seem to find the front... and my shop manual is vague.

Thanks!

I see that getting to the front drain hoses, will be a pain in the butt... but its also a good way to get to know my MINI.

You can view a lot of information about typical areas for your MINI to leak via the sunroof in this NAM thread here. There are a lot of detailed images in that thread for you while you attempt to clean out your drains. Let me know if you have any questions.

water leak

ECSTuning.. you are correct. The leak is around the base of the antenna... Can just the base be replaced, or do I have to buy the whole shebang?

Believe you have to replace the whole base as the seal does not come separate. If you don't have phone preparation and nav it is HERE. Otherwise, with is here. Can confirm with your vin number if you want. You can also search for a used one in the marketplace or on www.car-part.com.

Thanks Pelican Parts! and so far you have the best price of a NEW base. (as long as I can get new, that's how I like to roll).. I'll go to your website to make sure it fits.

You're welcome. You can PM me your vin and I can double check to make sure you're getting the correct one for your R50.

Thanks

Some people have tried RTV black silicone a little on the gasket so they dont have to buy the whole base.

Otherwise the parts is here and pics to see. Not a generic diagram that might or might not be the part. This is the NON Navigation part version. 65206985714

Yep.. thats the part... I do not have Nav..

From the looks of the current base... the rubber edge next to the body seems to be pulling away from the base... I had wondered if putting a water sealant on that would hold until I can afford a new base.

Yep, some people use the black rtv to seal up and buy some time. just use a dab and run a little bead as a quick fix.
