Things are moving fast. I was close to Roadshow today and thought I would stop in to look at the floor mats. My EDD was to be tomorrow. When I walked in, my MA said "I was about to call you, your car just came in and is out back"! Hellooooo:smile: ! We went out back and it was still on the top of the truck, wouldn't you know, in the front . I will be picking it up tomorrow afternoon! I will post pictures tomorrow too.

I picked her up last night and .......WOW! I could hear other drivers saying, "what's he grinning about?"

By the way, the drive home was interesting as it was the longest trip with a manual transmission that I have taken...period!

I hope I didn't mess anything up . I missed the right gear a few times, and my shifting was a little rough.

He's finally here! We are in love! We are happy! Good things really do come to those who wait!

The 05 is very quick and very cool. Had to drive home in the dark from the dealer- love the Xenons. Can't wait for the break in the be over!

Will post pics when I figure out how to get them smaller!

We got ours yesteday and despite the weather (it was storming), we're loving the car already. We didn't have the digital available when we picked it up, but I snapped a couple in the garage last night:

What exactly is the specified break period for the '05 S?

Yes, I like the chrono package, I wasn't particularly fond of the big spedo.

Break-in

Brakes, Clutch 300 miles
Complete 1250 miles.

Well Jimi is home safe and sound. The whole process at Niello took a couple of hours. Jimi was the first Purple Haze Niello received so he was in the showroom. As I walked in I was so nervous about the Purple Haze color, but once I saw it in person I feel in love. The color is difficult to describe. It is definetly purple, but in a good way. There is a lot of blue in the color as well. In the garage it looks almost black. It just depends on the lighting. The anthracite dash is great along with the space cloth seats. I really love the black roof and mirrors. The windows were going to be tinted today, but darn it I had to work. We are going to try to get the windows tinted next week before our trip to Oregon.

We didn't get home until 6:00 p.m. last night and than after dinner we took a long drive on twisty roads around the Sutter Buttes. That was a blast (already have 100 miles on the car). We even saw another Mini on the road! I plan on taking pictures this weekend and than post them. We threw the truck out of the garage and the Mini looks so small in a three-car garage by itself. Our car cover did not arrive yet so we had to improvise and cover the car with some comforters. The cats appreciated that. They were both on top of the car this morning.

Well I have to get back to work. I will post pictures soon.

1250 is right. Not above 4500RPM and 95MPH. As my husband says, 4500 is right where it's really fun! Seriously tho', our new MCS has so much pep it's just not fair. I feel sorry for everyone else on the road!

Hope to have him broken in within a couple of weeks. There are so many places to motor in Arizona. Going to Superior (look it up!) for dinner tomorrow then Flagstaff for the helluvit next week. Won't take long. I'll post pics!!!

I asked this question in the August thread, but got an answer I didn't like, so I see if I can get a better one here. Does the EDD mean delivery to the dealership or to the owner?

I am afraid you will not like my answer but..................here goes.................EDD is date it is expected at the dealer and is, given my two recent experiances, pretty acurate. It sould only take one or two days after to get to you. I do hope this helps.

Now ME..................I want my car to get here. Wednesday or Thursday are what the trucking Co. said so I will call on tuesday and get an estimate as to which day it will be. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Just a little perspective on the whole thing. I paid for the darn thing over a week ago and am still not driving it.

My experience: EDD was 8/23. It got to the dealer 8/21 and we picked it up 8/24 because we had to delay a day for tinting.

Our first motoring day. Caught up with a friend with an 03 IB, MCS, JCW and put a fun-filled 200 miles on the odometer cruising the back roads in AZ. Handled great at 85. Worst bummer - 5 days old remember - the top weather strip on the windshield flies out of the track at 75MPH! Thank goodness we were with a friend who saw it and helped us put it back in. (and another passerby also stopped - has a EB 04 MCS!!!) It kept popping out so we had to stop at a little bar in the middle of nowhere and masking tape the darn thing down! I am not amused. Will be visiting the service dept. first thing Monday.

Happing motoring to all of you that have your cars and just be patient, those of you who don't. You are in for a treat when it does arrive

We got her home.

Well 3 months in the making...several trips to the dealer...anguishing over all the options...making descisions and second guessing them...Placing an order...$500...weeks and weeks of waiting...checking productions status...preying to get on a boat...watching the weather...held up at VDC...at the dealer...O-no a trip to NY, I cant pick her up...a Billy Joel sighting at a NY Mini dealer...buy a house...and at last I GET MY MINI.

I have to tell you that the car is more fun than...well I am more excited to have the mini than the new house. The house needs to be unpacked and a little work all the while the Mini looks into our window and crys to me...lets go for a drive. Under 50 miles in 2 days. Probebly the least number of miles on a new mini on its first weekend. Well we love it and I will post pics this week.

Motor on.

When I took it in this AM they told me the Window Specialist had to come in to repair it. I suggested he just come to my home to repair which he did about 6PM tonight. Mark, the great window guy, says he's seen this same thing for years. Mini is installing the windshield low - or as he put it "I've told them they need to install it farther north." Normally the weather strip just pops in and is held in place by the tightness of the gap between glass and roof. He had to put adhesive down against the roof line then pressed the piece back in. He says he sees at least one a week just like this. Great quality control!!!

He also said he replaces Mini windshields often. They are really thin glass and crack more easily than others. Said he has one owner he's replaced 3 times. UGH! With the number of rocks on our AZ roads it happens all too frequently. Maintain your insurance glass coverage!

But as he said, Minis are way too much fun to be concerned about windshields!!! I have to agree:smile:

Trouble posting pictures

I have a lot of pictures of Jimi and I am having a problem posting them as thumbnails. Can someone assist? I have the photos loaded on my C Drive but whenever I try to post attachments, I am getting a message that the photos are too big.

Thanks.

After a long wait, my MCS finally was delivered.

Thanks to Julie @ Classic MINI and Concours Transport for getting it to me.

I received a call at 9:30am this morning from Cornell (Concours' MINI delivery dude) that he was an hour away and that he had to drop off a Ferrari first and I could meet him there. The street that he dropped off the Ferrari at was so tight that we had to go find a big open lot to unload the 2 other cars behind the MINI. One of the cars was a classic Chevy El Camino that didn't want to start and I had to help push it back so that it could be unloaded.

Cornell even raised the ramp so that I could take a under carriage pic of the MCS.

Here are some pics...
