Nice find, had them on the r56 loved the looks.

So I had my clutch replaced to fix the throwout bearing rattle. Mechanic said the throwout bearing fell apart when disassembled. Unfortunately, the issue was mostly the input shaft bearing. So time for a transmission replacement. Definitely a hit to the wallet, considering the $800 clutch job that it just had. Now about $950 for the used tranny, and another $600 for the labor.

Can't you just replace the bearing?

Well he suggested the tranny get rebuilt, it had very low fluid so there may have been damage done beyond just a bearing replacement. To have the trans rebuilt would probably cost more than a used unit and there would be some down time. This way I can add a lsd to make light of the situation.

Ah sorry to hear this Yea, search for an LSD if you can find it. Part # 23007574848 should be on the case. then do the redline fluid and seals why you are at it.

Yea it's a bummer but I'll deal with it, lots of overtime lately and my car is really starting to come together. Looks like it will be $950 for a lower miles used trans with lsd and about 550 to have it swapped out. So not a bad deal and I end up with LiMited slip. Getting a labor break since he just replaced my clutch.

Good you found one, those can be hard to find because most people don't know about the LSD option for MINI. If you need anything let me know.

Sounds good.

I bought a factory LSD for a pittance and was going to get it installed when I was getting the output bearings replaced in my box. Turns out it was just an open diff and no one over her in the Colonies had a clutch kit for a Mini in stock so it is back together with a busted DMF and open diff.

So disappointing. At least you can fix everything in the new box before it goes on the car.

yea, the used trans will hopefully be good to go without much refurb needed. Wondering if the lsd will be a upgrade I'll actually feel.

Started refurbing my recently acquired r98s used some 3m sandblasted sanding pads. Stiripped the clear coat with Kleen strip and sanded with 60 grit then 80 grit and finished with 320. Then hit them with never dull. Came out pretty decent for my first attempt at wheel refurbing.

Yea, all the super-sale ones are gone. Only ones here:

Its a great wheel also, maybe the best wheel of the gen1 MINIs. Sometimes they pop up used in the marketplace.

Found a set on Craigslist but they are the one piece 16s, must be a uncommon set because I've never seen any. Here's how the smoked out side marker looks.

I've refinished the r98 lips so I think I'll get a set of tires for them and get them on soon. 3 wheels were rough while one was in excellent shape. One has a chunk missing which I haven't decided what to do with yet, I'm sure it won't cause any issues but it's not real pretty to look at.

Wheel repair places can fix that, I would get a quote to fix that.

The 16" one piece R90's are what you are talking about in my link ? 36116775855

yes the 16" r90s. I'll have to get a quote on the wheel, but I think I can replace it used for cheaper.

Depends on what the repair place charges. Good luck and they should be able to fit it. Most used R90's i have seen cheap have bunch or road rash on the barrel lip. The R90 one piece wheel is very rare.

thanks, been two years so it's been a slow build for me also. Definitely budget orientated, I'm just a working class 26 year old.

Shoot me some pictures of what you have as far as the wheels go. (PM me and I'll shoot you my cell #). Every Saturday morning, I hang out at my friends wheel repair shop. I can get you a quote. He does everything from Hyundai to Lamborghini wheels. I'm in the middle of a complete refurb of some R98's. The next pics show what I was playing around with. I'm not going to go with this finish for the center but I wanted to see how it would look.

Other wheels I've done.

Car looks great man! It's inspiring.
I'm still working on the performance end... 15% Cravenspeed pulley and last night's install of my Alta CAI. Cat back exhaust is in the mail. Ebay cheapo..not expecting much but it was worth a shot for $219. For now.

On the exterior side I do have the look-a-like JCW grill on the way too.
But I may send it back and hold out for the real deal...not sure.

Got me some Matte black plasti dip...but it's cold here in NY still. Gotta wait for now.
