Wow, that really looks like #$%#$. With that said, did that have anything to do with the clutch failure?

Tech said it allowed for "play" & said he drop tranny & see what eles is going on

The pedal became sorta hard to push & with 100miles now when you ouch in the clutch it's sounded like a bottom end knocking .... & clutch was 100% not working ((as in I couldn't disengage) ..... But I crank it in first & speed shift to 3rd then 5th to get it to the repair shop

+1 on this. You clearly inherited a problem that someone took a major shortcut to fix.

I also would try to get your money back.. Ive seen a few MINIs now with the 5 speed transmissions where the case has been welded from some previous problem.. So there must be something that is a known problem.. I think the 5 speed trans. is the Midland type that have these problems.. But either way I wouldn't leave the JB cold weld on it.. I would either get it welded or find a new case or transmission..

I think it is a similar amount of work as changing a CVT to a 6 speed...
New tranny, different cv joints, different flywheel, starter (I think)....and you will lose the cruise...and gearing is much less "sporty" due to less hp of the base Cooper...so doubt you would find the swap makes $$$ sense....

Yes it does. I sold some parts to a gentleman in Los Angeles for the conversion and help him with any question he had with the conversion.

If ever you need 6 speed s tranny i'm selling my spare one.
