OK, I am too dumb for this site.

Sure I have searched and tried repeatedly (about an hour now), but I can not for the life of me upload pics. I have done everything I have found written anywhere here. No go.

Someone please point me in the right direction. Or hold my hand and walk me through it.

Thanks,
(a very frustrated) John L

You can upload a few items to the Gallery here on NAM, but please don't go overboard.

Otherwise you can upload them to a personal website, Picturetrail or an online hosting service.

Once the pictures are somewhere online, you can then place them in posts here on NAM if you wish.

What you will need is the URL of the photo in it's online location. To get it you will right click on the picture at the website you have it stored at (don't do this on your local computer it won't work) and select Properties.

For example if you upload your picture to Picturetrail. You would log into your Picturetrail account and go into the appropriate album. Select the picture you want to share in a thread, and right click on it. Select Properties, and you will see the URL for the photo.

Highlight the URL with your mouse and press {ctrl}C to copy that text. Then start your thread in NAM, where you want to place your photo in your post, you will type in [*img] (but without the *) then after the ] pres {ctrl}V to paste the url of your photo. You then need to close the tag by typing [/img] immediately after the URL you just pasted.

You must upload your photos someplace online to place them in a post, you cannot link to a photo that is stored on your home computer, and there is no way to directly upload a picture from your computer into a thread

Hope this helps, if you need more info, feel free to PM me and I'll walk you through it.

I even tried to link to the pic I want to post that is on my website, and couldn't do that.
Hands thrown up in despair!

I have a few more minutes to play before I have to go to work, so I will try again....
I may take you up on the offer of handholding though. I will see how this works (again)

Type {IMG} before and {/IMG} after the URL of the picture that you want to post like this:

{IMG}https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/members/miniminetoo.jpg{/IMG}

Replace the curly { } brackets with square [ ] brackets.

I tried for months and finally did upload a couple of pictures. For me it's more trouble than it's worth. I'm sure it's because I'm 60. You young wipper-snappers have no excuse.
