Here is a bulletin that was just obtained and when I get more details I will post more info. Notice you can be reimbursed for money already paid out.

You might want to call the number provided in the letter I posted as many 2nd hand owners are receiving the letter in the original owners name.

I just called and you can either take your receipts and relevant info to your dealer and they will help process it, or send copies along with your vehicle info and personal contact info to:

Great news, I had my cooling fan replaced under an aftermarket warranty that I got transferred when I bought the car used. I only paid 100, warranty paid 750 iirc.

My power steering pump could go at any moment though!

Looks like its official. I just got home and received the same letter. I'm a proud new mini owner (2004 mini cooper s). Thought I had made a big mistake after seeing some of the problems with the power steering pump failures. Seemed to be a big money fix. I have only owned my mini for about 2-3 months and I received the letter. I had the biggest grin on my face when I opened the letter cause I have done a lot of research and saw there wasn't a recall, well until now. Can't wait to throw it in my wife's face after she was complaining that I bought another headache. Big thanks to NAM for all the love other mini drivers show. I've learned so much just from reading past posts. Hopefully all you other older mini owners get your letters soon.

Got the letter today, had my 2004 PS pump bite the dust 3yrs ago. I had a warranty but it still cost me three to four hundred bucks. Guess what I will be doing tomorrow !! been waiting for this for a long time, unfortunately Mini had to be threatened with a class action lawsuit before doing this.

You are good for 13 years or 150k miles. So I think you should be covered.

I doubt they would replace it just because it's "excessively whiney" especially considering it's well known that electric PS pumps are whiney. However if they do I will definitely get in on it as mine is loud and annoying as well. Probably the only aspect about the car I dont like.

This is interesting because I've had two separate incidenets where, albeit briefly, I had "manual" steering. I'm at 106K in an 03 R53.
