Hiccup in throttle when starting from stop

My gf's r53 mini has been plagued by a weird throttle hiccup when starting from stop. When gassed in first gear, the car will often lose power for a second or so and then come on like nothing happened.

It's a bit dangerous when exiting a parking lot and trying to accelerate to the rate of traffic. Any ideas?

I was thinking maybe an ignition or fueling issue, but I don't know much about these cars.

Thanks in advance!

not that I'm an expert, believe me, I'm not, but from what I've read and heard that is normal

Most definitely not normal. I experienced what you're talking about in my previous '06 S. It's not the crappy e-throttle lag, it's much worse than that. Mine only did it when it was cold. But yeah, no power for a couple seconds, then all of a sudden everything was fine. I even had an RMW tune done and the problem was still there. I never did get it figured out before the car got totaled. My current '06 S JCW does not have that issue. Wish I could be of more help, but I do know what you're talking about.

Try the ECU reset - You'll find the link using the search function.
That helped me when I had a similar problem.
How old are the plugs?

Maybe you can try clean the throttle body and change the fuel filter (if it hasn't been chged for long long time)?

The same thing is happening to me. New spark plugs helped a little but it is still present.

It could be the DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) kicking in to reduce wheel spin.
Turn the DCS off (at switch panel) and see if that eliminates the problem.
The DCS is active each time the car is started but can be manually deactivated with the switch.
If DCS is the problem, the Auto-Up circuit card can be installed to turn DSC off each time the car is started. Here is a link:
